When my car @gear 3 especially, low rpm, between 2 to 2.5, It jerks and shake. Once it hit, 2.5,its normal. Petrol : shell 95 = very bad jerk almost every time Shell 98 = not so bad. Jerk not so hard. Shell Vpower = much lesser, light jerk. All filter changed. Engine mounting also change ( based on recommandation ) workshop advise change 8 sparkplug. I feel if is spark plug, what petrol also should jerk. Please advise me ↡ Advertisement

Watwheels Supersonic May 8, 2016 Share May 8, 2016 Just wondering if fuel pump .. it should be constant jerk no matter what fuel i use ? If not fuel pump there are others. There are quite a number of causes when it comes to jerking. Mass Airflow Sensor faulty usually is the common cause of jerking but since you didn't mention any CEL or error code, it's most likely not the sensor but I can't rule out that the sensor is dirty. That can also be a factor. If it's dirty it gives the computer the wrong reading and it will screw up the air/fuel mixture and cause the car to jerk. Since yours is a renewed COE car if me I would replace the air sensors namely MAS sensor and the exhaust lambda sensor( it's also an air sensor, they form a loop). Although they are electronic components they do wear and tear over time.

Please advise me High chance 1 - Fuel pump & fuel filter 2 - Ignition coil or spark plugs or could be carbon build up in combustion chamber since you say using high octane fuel will lesser the jerk. Use a high strength PEA base injector cleaner and use 95 fuel to test. If it get's better than you know it's carbon build up.
