Ahh... modern day electronics wizardry. My car doesn't have that function. All leg muscles at work [laugh]

These days, the more advanced makes have traffic foot brake hold function.

Some need to press a button to activate...

The more intuitive one I am quite impressed with is Mercedes implementation. When your car comes to a stop at a red light or jam, you just have to press in harder on the brake pedal to activate the brake hold. When time to move, just step on the accelerator and off you go. Works wonder with hill start roll back prevention too.

Cheers

Are makers moving away from dual clutches?

Citroen (e.g. C4) is also on the Aisin A/T.
The French marques have had surmounting issues with their previous dual clutches ... not sure if they're as bad as VW's dry 7-DSG. πŸ‘ŽπŸΌ

I have read that Ford will also revert to providing an A/T option, cos there's too many complaints on their dual clutch. But I note that the Singapore A/D is still offering only the dual clutch option πŸ‘ŽπŸΌ

An interesting point to note is that while most of Audi models have embraced the S-Tronic tranny (Auid-speak for VAG's DSG), the top-of-the-line A8 models sold here comes only with Tiptronic A/T.

Mercedes Benz here are all A/T-equipped - they preferring to stick to MB's own proprietary 7G-Tronic (or higher variants).

All of the MFA platform models, including the A,B, CLA models, and the C class too. Not sure about the E class.

Agree.
I find Subaru's automatic gearboxes 'slushy'
But their current range all CVT - I'd stay away from these

Have you try the latest subaru CVT?

W205, to my knowledge, uses the 7G-TRONIC PLUS, not the 7G-DCT..

No lah, only the AMG (63, 45) models
ALL others are 7G-Tronic Plus. A/T.
Even the CLS400 is 7G-Tronic Plus.

You can check bro, it's a fact: all MFA platform cars use the DCT gearbox.
