Conti 2L turbo still slightly faster and drinks lesser though. Like BMW 330i and Audi A4 2.0TFSI Quattro.

Like I say, Stinger makes you forget you are driving a Korean car. For what it’s worth and bought at, not bad liao.

Are those Continental cars also lighter than the Stinger?

conti 1.4turbo drank very little fuel and in the end piston and turbo piang. hahahah.

in the end for power you cannot expect too much fuel savings. else something has to give.

Ah I see bro... yes yes... 8-10 km/L on 50% city is comparable to any 2.0 L NA engine I would pay... any experience with other turbo engines? Just curious... Is this a common theme with these new turbo engines? I asked a friend driving a 1.0 turbo Focus and he kind of complained that it drank as heavily as a NA 1.6 engine... he was hoping for better fuel economy?

i agree with your ford focus friend

i was getting 10.4km/l on my 1.5l turbo ford mondeo

now on my 2l turbo german car, getting 13.5km/l, and is a slightly heavier car

Oooo... I was seriously considering the 1.5 L Ford Mondeo until they stopped bringing it in when I was ready to change my car... it didn't seem under-powered when I test drove it then...

0-50km/h does feel abit sluggish, i think is due to the gearbox. but above that speed, driving/overtaking is a breeze., doesn't feel underpowered

maybe my base for comparison is very low. before mondeo was nissan sunny, haha

Quite difficult to be heavier than the Stinger. 2.0T is 1.67ton while 3.3 v6 is around 1.8ton.

Most conti 2L turbo 4.7-4.8m car would be 1.45 ~ 1.5+ ton.

Very good by the Koreans.

It's like I always say, when it comes to cars...

***

The Chinese are the new Koreans.

The Koreans are the new Japanese.

The Japanese are the new Germans.

The Germans are the new Italians.

***

In other words, the cars China started out making were similar in reputation to the cars the Koreans started out making (i.e. not very good). That having been said, the Chinese have picked up very fast, I think they're going to give the Koreans a real run for their money soon.

The Koreans are now up to where the Japanese were maybe a decade ago. (EDIT: I started out saying they don't have a real supercar like the GTR, but in fact they do! The Ouillim Spirra. I hadn't heard of that one till I searched, learn new things every day).

The Japanese are now clearly where the Germans were about a decade ago. They have fast sedans and a best-selling supercar coupe, and other supercars which are not so popular, but still very worthy.

The Germans have, for a while, been pushing into exotic territory, previously the sole province of the giddy Italians. Porsche needs no clarification. But even Merc has gone down that road with the SLS AMG and the AMG GT variants. And Audi with the R8. BMW specialises in its M super sedans (like Merc with its AMG division), but it does have the i8 which should count since electric supercars are now a real thing (the Holy Trinity). I guess the Z8 would also count.

don't fully agree "Japanese are now clearly where the German were about a decade ago"

this 2 countries totally different idea in car manufacture, Japanese focus on NA+Hybrid,  strong points on electronic with simple functions and reliability

German focus on TC, and strong points on mechanical and with complicate design and functions,  but reliability low

weird, why is stinger so heavy?

e200 and 520, both longer weigh about 1610kg

2l Stinger is not AWD right?

Actually its not significantly heavier:

W213 E200 RWD-1605KG(Minimum depending on options).

W213 E400 RWD- 1884KG(Minimum depending on options).

G30 530i RWD-1615KG(Minimum depending on options).

G30 540i RWD- 1745KG(Minimum depending on options).

Stinger 2.0T RWD-1638KG(Minimum depending on options).

Stinger 3.3T RWD- 1737KG(Minimum depending on options).

Its not such a porky in my opinion.

It depends on how you look at it. E class is different segment from Stinger.

Then again it seems like Stinger is in a segment of its own or a selected few. The closest rivals would be bmw 430i/440i and the Audi A5/S5 Sportback, respectively for 2.0T/3.3 v6 Stinger.

As i said previously, in term of drive feel, Stinger is no match to German cars.

German cars use aluminium for its suspension.  Increase in rigidity with lower unsprung weight.

For now, maybe.

But it's the Korean's first attempts, and it's already disrupting the establishment. I won't count against the next generation of i30N, Stinger and G70 leading the field.

And showing up what overrated, overpriced and unreliable cars the Germans are flogging to us now.

Much like how the Japs showed up the Brits and brought them to their knees in the 70s.

Yes. Good to wake up the sleeping germans. Much like what Lexus did to the S class.

For me, I’m not really a badge whore. If a car is good then it’s good. Don’t care if it is Japanese or Korean or German.

Have you even driven the stinger? Edited by Mkl22

Disruption is always good.

In order for Korean to lead in drive feel, it needs to start using Aluminum alloy.

Currently, there is 200kg difference btw Kia Stinger GT and German equivalents.

You want to lend me?

I drive my own car as if I steal it.

Test drive units are always available at Leng Kee or Ubi - but you already knew how the Stinger pales in comparison to its German counterparts didn’t you? [rolleyes] Edited by Macrosszero
