DACH Supersonic June 1, 2018 Share June 1, 2018 600-HP Lexus LC F Won't Join The Party Until 2022?https://carbuzz.com/news/600-hp-lexus-lc-f-won-t-join-the-party-until-2022 Why the wait for something so brilliant? Here’s the one problem with the Lexus LC 500: it’s not a full-on LFA successor. Although we must immediately point out the LC 500’s naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 with 471 hp is an absolute gem and part of a dying breed. The LFA, to compare, came powered by an also naturally aspirated engine, a 4.8-liter V10 with 552 hp. While there have been rumors and supposed spy shots of a more powerful LC, possible an F model, Lexus has yet to confirm such a vehicle will even exist. However, Car and Driver’s latest issue offers additional details regarding the grand tourer’s future. Perhaps most interestingly is that C&D has it marked as a 2022 model, obviously meaning it’s still quite some time off. As we previously suspected, Lexus will swap out the NA V8 for a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that’ll be good for over 600 hp. Now that’s more like it. The 10-speed automatic transmission is also set to return, driving power to the rear wheels. There could also be an improved torque-vectoring differential working together with the Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management system for the specific purpose of improving track performance and handling. The exterior is also said to receive a bit of a re-work, thanks to more aggressive front and rear fascias. Hood and fender ventilation to improve airflow is also expected, not to mention a necessity. Because the current LC 500 is fairly heavy, weighing in at around 4,400 pounds, engineers are doing what they can all Jenny Craig style. Additional use of carbon fiber and other lightweight components will be used in liberal amounts wherever possible. This all sounds brilliant, especially since Lexus is targeting the likes of the Acura NSX, Jaguar F-Type SVR and Porsche 911. But why is this not happening until 2022? What’s the hold up? The most likely answer is that it’s simply not a priority for Lexus at the moment.
DACH Supersonic January 31, 2019 Share January 31, 2019 Lexus LC 500 Inspiration Series Starts From $106,210, Exclusive Leather Bag Included https://www.carscoops.com/2019/01/lexus-lc-500-inspiration-series-starts-106210-exclusive-leather-bag-included/ The Inspiration Series is the latest addition to the the LC’s U.S. range. It will premiere next month at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show and go on sale in April with an MSRP of $106,210, excluding destination fees. Limited to 100 examples, it sports a Flare Yellow paint on the outside that’s contrasted by the carbon fiber lower grille insert and roof. All cars will ride on 21-inch rims as standard. In the cabin, the new LC 500 Inspiration Series featuresAlcantara yellow door inserts and semi-aniline leather with contrasting stitching on the dashboard, central console and glove box. The special edition LC also comes with an inscription on the carbon fiber door sills that marks its limited production run. Ordering the LC 500 Inspiration Series will give owners a matching leather Lexus garment bag, which folds into a spacious travel bag as detailed in the image gallery below. Since it’s based on the 500 model, it uses the same 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 that produces 471 HP (478 PS / 351 kW) and 398 pound-feet (540 Nm) of torque, directed to the rear wheels through a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Since there are no mechanical changes, the Inspiration Series’ performance is identical to the normal model, which means it hits 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.4 seconds and goes all the way up to 168 mph (270 km/h).
