Err isn't this more of a Face lift rather than an entirely new model?

It looks a lot like the current model. All the german brands seem to be doing this nowadays lol.

VW Golf is a very conservative design, they deliberately make the latest look similar to the older version.

But the insides make a big different..

Engine, Gearbox, safety features etc.. the heart of a new car..

Hypersonic

HP is still at 227bhp. Many 2.0 turbo conti are doing more than that already.

Compared to the mk5 so many years ago, not much higher.

Even my FXT already 240hp.

It's not always juz about max bhp figures but the combo w the gearbox, balance, NVH, etc. The GTI has a Jekyll & Hyde character. Can be a quiet, gentle, comfy ride one second w a soft exhaust note n turn blitzkrieg the next second u prod the pedal n it starts its series of loud DSG farts. Haha

Was actually thinking whether to wait for this 2017 Golf or not..

But friends and dad-in-law keep having issues with their WVs (and not helped by the fact that the WV reps are not very nice ppl  [thumbsdown] )

so in the end wifey say drop WV and we went for an A180 instead [laugh]

lol [:p]  and out of the frying pan...

lucky u din go for the CLA.

The new 2017 Golf might be interesting, since it's got a new engine which may be Euro 6 compliant, and with a new gearbox, this car may actually benefit from the new VES tax.

 whoa didn't know CLA had such low consumer ratings.. but then again if have to choose between the old golf / jetta.. the CLA might still be a better option (at least dun need keep going back to service centre and suffer frequent downtime!)

Back to main topic, I think AD definitely will up the price of the new 2017 Golf by a lot

Lelong soon

They have been doing that for months already.. it should intensify in the next few months, but their stocks may already be depleted..

This could be a new start for them, and if the car mechanicals are reliable, they will regain some reputation.

However the new emission rules put them at a distinct disadvantage - their 1.4 TSI is now 15k more at least and unless the new 1.5 tsi can do better, their Golf will cost more than a A180.

Then they should try bring this new Golf ASAP to beat the VES deadline. At least to try win back lost market share due to the GB issue.
