I found this piece of info of my old car magazine.

Space for the Gtti

SR5GS1G.jpg

Cc, power, torque, fuel system, top speed and century Sprint.

8.3sec is bloody fast in 1990. To put things to perspective:

- Toyota MR2 8.2 secs

- Nissan 200sx 9.1 secs

- Swift GTI 8.5 secs

- Ford Escort XR3i 10 sec

Cars back then were lighter. No much accessories and safety features and with little emission control. A stock 1.6 NA B16 back then can generate 160hp. Those were the good days. Nowadays, cars are loaded with electronic controls and the inevitable EV cars in the future. All these classics will become history.

The GTi is very tastefully done.

That was the day when there's no environmental impact.

There are a few evolution to engine that negates and hinders the output power over the course of my lifetime.

- introduction of unleaded petrol

- introduction of catalytic converters (precursor to emission standard but only for CO)

- tougher euro emission standards

If not for these standards... at current tech a 1.6NA engine can do 200bhp or above quite easily...

thats why i say.....some outmoded cars like those >1.6 manual transmission will be a keeper in 10-20 yrs. Just like this Charade GTti.......simple but awesome!

S13 200sx 0-100 timing should be 7.3s. My uncle had one b4. Very powerful back then.
