My first car was a Charade 1.0 non turbo, in red. Thanks TS for bring back fond memories. Very good to see you trying so hard to restore this classic!

It takes great patience, hard work, time & also $$$ to restore the condition of your GTti until like this [thumbsup]

Almost bought a 2nd hand Charade in the 90s [nod] but end up with a 2nd hand Subaru J10 then as $$$ not enough [:(]

wow, nice car.

charade (993cc) was my 1st car as a present from my dad right after my ns. really missed this reliable machine and I enjoy

doing some simple engine diy during the weekend.

I also miss my many "outings" and "night ops" inside that car. Wonderful times...

I found this piece of info of my old car magazine.

Space for the Gtti

Cc, power, torque, fuel system, top speed and century Sprint.

8.3sec is bloody fast in 1990. To put things to perspective:

- Toyota MR2 8.2 secs

- Nissan 200sx 9.1 secs

- Swift GTI 8.5 secs

- Ford Escort XR3i 10 sec

I owned a black XR3i with a sun roof that you need to roll open or closed. Long story short, rubber seal harden and every time rain, the interior all wet. 1 time, my friend actually used a small umbrella in my car. Funny memories.

was brought to this thread by the recent spotting too...

ever considered using Xiali parts from China? since they had a licence-built version of the Charade which sold millions in the 1990s... should be readily available.

Supersonic

Finally found and installed a set of Original Side Skirts

This car is a 3 cylinders engine if I am not wrong, the bhp is not very big but the power to weight ratio makes it more powerful than many heavier cars, plus the lower gear ratio, the car is in fact very powerful and fast in acceleration then.
