SZ_ford 5th Gear November 20, 2017 Share November 20, 2017 Hi All, had a friendly debate with a fellow petrol head. I was for turbo S being a super car. He was against . My argument was turbo S has 580hp and is probably the fastest accelerating car, minus the tesla. His argument was turbo S doesn't evoke the emotions like a lambo or ferrari. So my question is what make a car a supercar? Price, history, horespower, looks? what about aston, mclaren and bentley? ↡ Advertisement
Ahbengdriver 6th Gear November 20, 2017 Share November 20, 2017 aaa......my hiadee in USA had bot a Turbo-S. Yours truly will be heading over to that part of the globe n drive his supercar or super performance car next year. apparently his car does real world 2.6sec for 0 to 100km. How many cars can do that straight out of the factory. I think people who say its isnt supercar are either sourgrapes or people who owned more expensive cars and had been beaten by the Turbo-S on the track on off track. That $hit can outperform quite a few mentionable cars on Nurburgring. I think what the Turbo S lacks given its price which is in the supercar ranges(albeit lower end of range) is its looks. No doubt it don't look as sexy vs the lambo and Ferrari to some, but make no mistake with Porky, they sure knows how to make race cars. If u had driven a 911 before, u will realize how well tuned the car is for handling. I drove one base-911 back to back with a Nissan fairlady(which looks a bit same shape) and its miles apart in performance n handling. Then I understand why the 911 cost like 4 times more vs the Nissan. Actually, Turbo-S will be my bucket list item.

I have never driven one and neither can i afford but I thought the turbo punches way above its weight, on paper. So i guess there's no definitive explanation on a supercar? All these terms is juz marketing term. Is GTR supercar? It beats Porsche 911 previously on Nürburgring Nordschleife i will term gtr as a supercar based on its performance alone. I'm sure some will disagree but the world has moved on since gtr was launched a good 10 years ago
Nuttywalnutty 1st Gear November 20, 2017 Share November 20, 2017 Does it really matter if he thinks it's not a supercar. It's a car and it accelerates fast. If you think thats super enough for you then you should be happy :) But if my opinion matters to you. Then yes. I believe any car that can sub 3.5 stock for 0-100 is a supercar. In term of real world, a lot of competitor has catch up with GTR.

Stratovarius Turbocharged November 20, 2017 Share November 20, 2017 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercar once had a similar discussion between super and exotic cars with my friend. For me any cars (road legal) that are fast are super and fast and limited are exotic. Few exceptions are the FXX and Zonda R (not road legal) which I think are exotics. t0y0ta Supercharged November 20, 2017 Share November 20, 2017 Saw some videos... lambo definitely supercar... have this special feature where its exhaust can ignite and start burning its own bumper and chasiss. Confirm 911 can't do that...
SZ_ford 5th Gear November 20, 2017 Author Share November 20, 2017 That only applies to all V12 Lambo. huracan v10 sounds very good as well right? Saw some videos... lambo definitely supercar... have this special feature where its exhaust can ignite and start burning its own bumper and chasiss. Confirm 911 can't do that... so if huracan is supercar, audi r8 is supercar as well right, since they are essentially the same car.?
