Watched this recently. Really good story, and good story telling. What is family ? What is parenthood ? One of the best movies this year to reflect on humanity.

Good movie. The amazing thing about this movie is that the trailer already told the whole story so actually no need to watch the whole movie?

watched an interesting korean movie last night "intimate strangers", a remake of a Italian movie "perfect strangers". The whole movie 90% happen in ONE scene and 7 people acting, many lies and many funny moment.

Been wanting to watch this. I visited South Korea during the Asian Financial Crisis still remember the sharp inflation of goods with the currency crisis. But they bounced back so quickly in the 2000's to top Asia in tech and media. For SG, our "bounce back" was the two casinos.

This movie subtly showed who engineered the Asian Financial Crisis and also the next big one that is coming. I did some work for the Thai authorities during that time, really bad for Thailand too.

If you lived through the 90's, you would know the IMF's role in the AFC was more or less an open secret. ID was over leveraged and Clinton was not happy with Suharto (US Democrats style). LKF has also wrote it in his memoir that was published decades ago, he warned the US about the risks of toppling Suharto. Alas, Southeast Asia, the world's factory in the 90's went down with it, leaving an open opportunity for the rise of PRC as the new world.

Recalling the 90's, we also had a huge bubble .. COE was at all time high, a lot of people were over leveraged and over invested in real estate and stocks. MY shut down the CLOB and pegged MYR against USD. Many jumped in 1997/98 but went unreported. Prior, everything was looking good. SG was top in electronics. I wonder if there would be a movie made about SG/MY during the AFC.

That's why a lot of people are concerned with very similar signs showing, particularly CN. One difference is CN is a communist state with the party leadership having a stiff hold over everything. Legally, all properties are owned by the CCP. CN is not a capitalist economy, it is a state economy with a capitalist market.

Anyone watched More Than Blue?

I am not a fan of tearjerkers and skeptical of the storyline. Boy likes girl, boy got terminal illness, boy finds girl a husband, boy dies.

Plot was plain old-fashioned but its really touching.  heard some sniffs in the cinemas  :nosebleed:

Something different from the run-of-the-mill action movies that I've been watching.

So I finally watched the movie. Timely, as the world economy is in for a new crisis. More people should watch it, especially those who's not  been through 1997/98. The small-medium businesses which forms the majority of any economy are always the hardest hit, but the bail out is often considered first for big corporations.

The female and male leads are good [thumbsup], but the story development was a bit unrealistic, sometimes simplistic. Perhaps the director was trying to rush many themes into one story. Good connection with what's coming up in today's world.

Yes, some parts of the story are not well explained and some conclusions are jumped. The director is trying to warn countries and his people about the next coming crisis. In hindsight, Mahathir responded to the crisis better than some leaders. Hopefully we will be ok in the next crisis.
