Bike-sharing provider oBike suffers global data breach

SINGAPORE: Local bike-sharing service provider oBike had suffered a global security breach that lasted at least two weeks, resulting in user data being leaked online.

According to a recent report by Bavarian news agency BR24, user data that could be accessed online include names, mobile phone numbers, email addresses, profile pictures and the routes they took when they rented the bicycles. It added that the data was not encrypted or protected.

It stated in the report that these data did not just affect users in Germany, but also users from others such as Singapore, Malaysia, Switzerland and Great Britain.

An oBike spokesperson confirmed the incident saying it was "made aware of the issue and worked quickly to resolve it immediately", although she did not reveal when the breach took place, and when the company resolved the breach.

Be careful of these bike sharing. QR codes are easily manipulated. If scanned, it can lead your phone to Trojan horses or even losing your cash..

Might give you stds as well.

so far the worst is obike. Its very heavy and the feeling is like the flying pigeon brand of old man bicycle.

Mobike and ofo seems a tad better and lighter

oBike, Ofo, Mobike

too many companies... should merge to form Mofobike

Actually many bikes companies are good for user, but sadly people here are not considerate to enjoy such convenience from such scheme.

Confirmed more than 62 la. The other was at bus-stop waiting for bus, there was one ofo bike left abandoned in the middle of the bus-stop and the bike is blocking people at bus-stop and yet no one bother to move the bike away. Lol.

Walked to coffee shop to eat last night.

On way saw one bike thrown over railing into drain.

On way back home saw another bike thrown over same railing into same drain.

Last month up at Woodlands pier with my family and MIL and a bike 'parked' right across walkway to pier so my MIL wheelchair couldn't pass.

Asked people there if it was their bike but wasn't so just had to move it to one side.

Pests.
