Worst places for parallel parking or parallel parking lots

Yesterday went to Dunlop St to have steamboat for dinner at One Pot.

Wanted to park along the street but it's very hard to find a lot during dinner hours.

And it's pretty hard to drive through the road as it looks quite narrow. Also many people there and nearly knocked down a guy.

I also wonder how to park the parallel lots as I think the roads are too narrow to maneuver into the parallel lot. In the end, went to park at the open carpark at Weld St.

A few years back, also in the same area, Little India, I parked on one of the streets and my friend opened the door and banged on the high kerb.   [bigcry]  :TT_TT:  Luckily no scratches and it's my old car.

I noticed some parallel lots in these areas tends to be harder to park. Do you guys encounter the same problems?

Talking about high roadside kerbs or high pedestrian footways, there are several spots in Amoy/Boon Tat St/Telok Ayer areas you have to be aware of. Even the lower SUVs and Crossovers are not spared. I wonder if there’s a standard height to adhere to or the level of these kerbs are built at the shop/office owners discretion.

Some of these parallel lots are situated outside some shops and restaurants. Some of these shops and restaurants built up a higher platform from the kerb side leading to their doors. And this results in a higher kerb beside the car park lot.

I’ve seen some sedan cars being victims to the higher kerbs:(

Side road next to Zion Road Hawker Centre.

Road is a bit too narrow for maneuvering, not much margin for error.  [sweatdrop]

Talking about high kerb. Sometimes when the kerb is not to high to block the car door, but just enough clearance for the door. When passengers get into the car, the weight lowers the suspension and the car door come to rest on the kerb and the passenger cannot close the door! :TT_TT:

That’s like watching a horror movie...

I witnessed a somewhat similar incident but between a big lorry and a black Honda Civic. The lorry was parked side-by-side with the Civic. The height of the lorry’s doors was just above the front bonnet of the Civic. So, imagine the Civic’s bonnet to be the kerb. The front passenger of the lorry opened the door to board, swinging the door towards the Civic. Once he sat in, the tip at the bottom of the door touched the Civic’s bonnet and he pulled back the door to close it at one stroke!

Can you imagine the damage to the bonnet?!

Maju Ave parallel lots near serangoon garden.

Its a narrow single lane with parallel lots on both sides of the lane, seen afew "chiu cheng" drivers overestimated their vehicle corners & brushed on other cars & road kerbs.

Maju ave and side road next to zion rd hawker centre indeed quite narrow to park. Esp the maju ave, your parking skills must be very good, a slight wrong estimation would resulted that your car either knock onto other cars or you would never able successfully park into the lot. Esp if you are driving a sedan car. Sometimes it is indeed good to drive a hatch car, when comes to parallel parking really much easier a lot.

Ha, went there 2 weeks ago. Managed to park into the only lot there.

Find that though is narrow, still ok.

Thought "lucky", about an hour later came back, got multiple "hits".

The small road next to Zion hawker centre, known as Kellock Road, is a test of skill to parallel park!
