No south Korean wants war or reunification. For many north Korean defectors to SK, they don't think the SK people actually care about reunification. The SK view them as oddities just like museum exhibits. So it won't happen. It's a shit storm that no one wants to touch (politically and culturally). Every politician is just happy to kick the bucket down the road.

It's not like Taiwan and China. Whereby the mainland Chinese really want reunification.

If they ever wanted war, when their navy vessel was sunk with 50+ South Korean lives lost, they would have gone then.

That's why the missile was never aimed at ROK but Japan. Missile fly over Hokkaido is no joke. Imagine a missile fly over Singapore.

Now got widespread flooding in Texas. USA got ponding to worry about lol

No one can start anything unless south Korea says yes lah. After all they will surely kana whatever so called retaliation.

And China big brother is always backing nk. Zip is going to happen.

Trump just said Afghanistan war deployment to continue on. He won't give a shit about nk until something hits Guam or what. His popularity is already down in the gutter.

Japan might be angry but also worried nk do stupid shit like attack with chemical weapons or what. So they will just be very angry lor.

Abe popularity currently low also. Just expect more Sabre rattling.

This is Kim's way of showing to ROK and Japan that Trump won't do sh*t.

It may be. Trump once again jumped the gun two weeks back when he said that they (nk) know the might of America. Now as always he will blame the Chinese.

Anyway NK don't have oil hahaha

Why Japan never shoot it down when it was flying above Hokkaido for substantial amount of time ? People will wonder.

Not so easy. Your patriots only have short range. Your aegis system destroyers must also be near the target area. While it's over flying. Almost impossible to shoot down.

Anyway these systems are actually quite lousy. Postulated to have only have at best 25-33% success rate at interception only. It's not commonly known that most of the patriots fired in first gulf War were next to useless.

Then some people wonder why that SGSecure app don't work.

Real emergency just send an SMS to everyone lor. Why must install some lame app. This is how they did it in Japan and USA (for hurricane warning) Edited by Kusje

*cough* *cough*

What is the political fallout in Japan?

That samurai pm looked like he had a round trip to a gas giant by the samurai council.

Ramifications.

Do not doubt that the US can fight in Asia as well, remember got Pacific and Atlantic theaters of war. Sup sup water.

And the best way to up popularity is to go save someone, never mind they the SK say they really do not need to be saved.

Maybe can get $1 M1Abrams soon.

Way I figure is if conflict is going to happen, it's going to be PRC flying down to Pyongyang, that is if they lost control of the DPRK military. It is what will happen logically for control over the peninsula.

Hence, this is a negotiation between DPRK with PRC with the 'Soviets' peering over their shoulders.

An independent Kamchatka fostered by an United Korea is really bad.

PRC is currently surrounded by 'crappy' countries and this serves the PRC government.

When your neighbors have democracy, controlled corruption and gang nam style, it tends to give people ideas.

They the PRC power brokers will never allow another prosperous social model to threaten the survival of the ruling elite, known in the old days as the bourgeois.

Which means the end of the ROC government, really like the end, finish, terminal. Too many old scores and new differences.

The viable option is to escalate a controlled military conflict with surgical termination with zero ground invasion. That is if PRC and the Soviets agree, that is.

No news will come out of NK about the mass famines and deaths, SK and Japan will be busy licking their wounds and The MAGA will come true, at least in part.

And we go back to our MRT breakdowns and reckless PMDs.

Does PRC have absolute control over DPRK?

Was the KL incident worked by PRC handlers? So secret until only a select few in zhongnanhai were aware?

unlikely. They have satellites watching NK, so once there is the thermal bloom of a ICBM launch, USA would surely have detected it.

I suspect Japan has it's own military satellites as well.

Lol even we supposedly have 1-2 up there.

i believe both side want reunification. ( look at how germany grow after reunification )

NK need SK  money.

SK will do even better if given the resource of NK  cheap labour and extra land.

the big question is reunification on whos term. who merge into who?

no emperor will give up power for his ppl.

and there is no chance for SK to turn communist.

not only that , most importantly does their backer really want to see them merge??

They don't. U know how long germany took to recover from the reunification. It cost them an 10 digit amount. Somewhere estimated at 40-60 billion euros at the intergration cost. That was in 1990s cost. Now the amount would easily exceed 100 billion.

On talk, they say it's nice. Just like siblings/cousins saying, yeah it would be nice if we all stay together as one big happy family again. But in reality, everyone wants their own space.

The NK defectors would put it this way. SK and NK are on 2 different planes, there's no middle ground. The SK people don't want reunification. Most of the people they meet in everyday life treat them like country bumpkins.

They've all given up hope of seeing reunification in their lifetimes. That's why u see cases of defectors smuggling back into NK to rejoin their families.

Not to mention, china definitely doesn't want something like that to happen.
