I think 1990s have a lot of PI cars, compared to now.

Especially from Toyota.

Estima Lucida, Estima Emina, Cresta, Chaser, Mark II/ Mark II Blitz, Verossa, Sera, Passo, Picnic/Ipsum, Porte, Landcruiser, Prado, Aristo, Altezza, WILL Cypha, WILL. Celica, Windom, Echo, etc

You meant More in variety? but it was much much less in volume.

you also need to understand that what you posted occurred in the very late 90s to early 2000. Prior to 97 hardly any of those models mentioned.

Look at the range of toyota now it has shrunk by quite a bit.

Actually many of the models I have stated started to sell in the mid 1990s and PIs were relatively new concept those days. So while having more variety, buyers are cautious buying cars from non AD.

Gonna agree on the range these days. But it's because of Toyota Japan too.

Cat B

1st bid Nov 17 = $57K

2nd bid Jan 18 = $42K

Difference = -$15K

1st bid May 18 = $40K

2ns bid July maybe = 40 - 15 = $25K, possible?

Thanks for the reminder. If $15K drop is a "car" crash, then coming July will be a car knock.  [:p]

The impact will be lesser this round as most models are "stablised" in their banding this round. Maybe a $5-7k adjustment in the July-August "ghost" period

Resale cars might see a bit more pick up too as consumers turn to them due to loan rates up and the lower COE are making dealers lower their pricing slightly to be competitive.

Real life recent example: C-HR, Harrier, Civic hatchback etc PI brought first in Singapore. so PI's can bring low emission models also before AD.

Your point is correct in terms of bring the car on-road because AD get batch approval from LTA and PI need approval for each car which can take 1-2 months time depend on how busy LTA schedule. Once PI Models will be examined by LTA new emission rules then future incoming shipments for all PIs will be smooth so this wont affect in long run.

Also PI serve niche market and bring those models which are not available with AD,  so they are here to stay.

if there is an emission issue , how does PI cars get corrected?

Which are the cars that will not incur extra VES come July?

Maybe it's time to chart them out.

i think bro @spring tried to start a thread for this purpose... somewhere...

If have to pay surcharge, the coe price drop and the price of the car remain the same...wouldn't the car have a higher depreciation value?

the government is transferring a variable income to a fix income.. not affected by market sentiment..

VES rules are same for AD and PI then why only PI will be affected.

In general, PI's are faster to bring new models which comply with new rules whereas AD needs some time to get new models from principal.

they referring to the car models not PI.

if there is an emission issue , how does PI cars get corrected?

e.g. if PI import car from Japan then they can get emission readings from Japan local dealer. If fail here to secure the neutral band then still can be sold with surcharge 10K or 20K, no need to correct. After first few batches dust will be settled down and business will resume as usual.

That sounds reazonable. What about 3 years later and kanna red flag for high rpm emission test failure? Go back jupun?

Yah, Kah Honda selection this year really jialat. Either lousy specs or high premium. I think they r banking on brand loyalty.

Totally agree CRV specs are crap for that price, and Civic 1.6 too. The Civic 1.5T premium to car cost is high.

Only City most value among their portfolio
