i think people also know it's unhealthy, so most people just consume less.

My parents used to like buy and go to try, see which brand nice. Nowadays, they just only eat 1-2 or give to grandkids to eat  [laugh]

hand made very time consuming.

Unless u buy the ready made lotus paste.

Many of those healthier mooncakes also not selling well.

Noticed that many of such mooncakes are already withdrawn in the recent festivals.

nowadays all the ready made ingredient (different paste and yolk) all available, just make the snow skin then add them in.

yeah i know, i did entertain the thought of making one time from scratch just to try. got videos on how to make them.

Was inspired by carbon82 lol.

But all these confectioneries are unhealthy, so i don't bother  [laugh]

yeah. for such seasonal things, i think don't need bother about healthy alternatives lah.

Why compromise on the taste for something u eat like for 1-2 weeks a year.

Anything handmade is time consuming. Have watched a time lapse on an artist who used matchsticks to construct a skull only to lit and burn...

There’s also a last one standing Japanese family run, manual process only fabric dye shop. They produce the acclaimed best black dye in the entire country. Black with sheen of luxurious shine...fit for the royalty.

For some reason. All the old shops are closing down their shopfront and hotels+restaurants are the ones selling under their brand.

Which is weird cuz I doubt they bake their own moon cakes.

And I gather that many people buy online these days as well.

still can get the "big china" at AV. same packaging. same carrier. prices slightly up than last year if i remember correctly.

i collecting moon cakes

Still no mooncake from any vendors.

But wifey bought some mooncakes from JB. Got durian, avocado and green tea from Hello Kitty. Then the normal ones from SDS.

Haven't bought any mooncake from SG. Last year also bought from SDS in JB.
