E-scooter woman rider taken to hospital after being hit by a lorry in Sengkang SINGAPORE - A 34-year-old e-scooter rider was taken to hospital after she was hit by a lorry in Sengkang on Monday (Aug 27). Police said they were alerted to an accident involving a lorry and an e-scooter at 9.47am at the junction of Sengkang East Road and Sengkang Square. According to Chinese daily Lianhe Wanbao, the woman was on her way back from buying groceries at the market. She had stopped her e-scooter at a traffic junction and was waiting to cross the road when she was hit by the lorry. An eyewitness told Wanbao that the woman's arms and legs were bleeding and she was unable to move. He added that the driver of the lorry got out of his vehicle immediately after the accident and tended to the woman. The driver appeared unharmed. The woman was conscious when she was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. The Straits Times understands that her injuries were not severe. Police investigations are ongoing. Don't forget, if it was an accident, it could require a surgery by an ortho, neuro, general surg etc dept. Not severe injuries are vague. It could range from a scratch to a fracture to head injury but patient is still alert (depending on who is reporting and who the reporter talked to) and I guess they want to minimise inter hospital transfer. Edit: if it was an emergency as in every second counts (cardiac arrest ) I think it would be a different story. BTW I say I think because I work in the healthcare sector and I don't want anyone to think I have inside info. I don't. It's just based on experience from my years in emergency nursing. So I think only. Edited August 27, 2018 by Philipkee
13177 Supersonic August 27, 2018 Share August 27, 2018 Could be the hospital might not have the facilities to handle? Same like when accident happened, they never send the victim to private hospital even the hospital could be secs away.

Philipkee can add more photos to your trip on your world trip i visited it again world trip and so few photos enjoy reading it again thank you We cant control the discipline of those who use the PMD, there are laws, and the authorities already accepted there will be plenty of accidents (minor), a few major accidents and perhaps one or two deaths in a year or two.
Showster Twincharged August 27, 2018 Share August 27, 2018 (edited) care to elaborate pls...My relative was sent there for emergency (near imputation of finger). The nurse walked around as the relative (me) helped the doctor collect the blood as the wound was washed. About the Emergency Department The Emergency (ED) Department at Sengkang General Hospital provides 24-hour service for trauma and non-trauma surgical and medical emergencies. We have a multi-disciplinary Emergency Care team to oversee and manage acute emergencies, providing patients with treatment at the specialist level. Showster Twincharged August 28, 2018 Share August 28, 2018 Oh yah, I also had to remind the KTP doctor to give painkiller injection. They did not do that until reminded several times. The other doctor in NUH said cannot discharge. Must inject with a cocktail of drugs to ensure the finger stays alive and prevent further problems - painkillers and antibiotics plus other drugs I think. They operated on the next day. That was most important for me as discharge is the most unacceptable decision despite it being non-threatening. They kept in a emergency holding area until they could ward my relative. Yes, I am still planning to write an official complaint. What was the comment from the other doctor from the other hospital ?
