Vratenza Supersonic September 15, 2018 Share September 15, 2018 That's the reason for the "likewise" inserted in the middle. The incumbent has been indoctrinating that unpopular policies they implemented despite all the unhappiness are good for us. Just suck it up like bitter medicine when they themselves draw astronomical pays and pensions. I don't see them sharing the bitter medicine with all of us. Let me translate what you just wrote: Popular policies is not necessarily bad policies - i.e., popular policies can be good policies Unpopular policies are not necessarily good policies - i.e. unpopular policies can be bad policies Aren't you just saying the same thing? ↡ Advertisement

Kb27 Supersonic September 15, 2018 Share September 15, 2018 populist politics is generally defined as for the people and anti-elitism. obviously the ruling elites does not like it. they implement policies which they think is for the country's best interest or more likely for their own best interest. eventually, it will lead to revolution.

Philipkee Twincharged September 16, 2018 Share September 16, 2018 Popular policies is not necessarily bad policies...likewise.....unpopular policies is not necessarily good. Funny thing is.......the government is voted in by popular vote....yet they refuse to implement "populist" policies. So is popular good or bad? Problem with your statement is that the government is really voted in by popular vote. The people voted. Populist votes may or may not be agreed by the masses. It could just be a vocal minority sounding it out. Singapore cannot formulate policies based on perceived populist demands but neither should they fomulate them to benefit only the elites. One thing is that the social media can make a policy look more popular or supported than it really is. It is true for policies suggested by the opposition and it is also true for policies by PAP.

After otc.. it's a shame. 2 of 3 never elected.. readily cost us $40m i guess. The "elected" one, would have been beaten by any of his opponents in 1to1. The latest one... the last straw..
