Starhub retrenched + Newstead close shops + Uber car in excess + stock market crash recently = COE drop.

+ ppl waiting for Cars@Expo + only 400 bids unsuccessful last rd

AD throw all in last rd to try to avoid making the COE look like continuing downtrend (only succeeded in making it look like holding steady) becoz they know if ppl expecting COE to drop they will hold back... so they let many ppl first bid NG get their COE.  Desperate times for ADs, hope crash on them till cars come down to reasonable margin... current margins on many cars are still ard $40k COE level.

Turbocharged

But I still see a long queue of ppl waiting outside Din Tai Fung. Means economy still strong. Confidence for the future, confidence to take higher loans!!!

ADs margin more when coe is low. COE high, their margin also kanna squeezed. My understanding...

2 years ago, used to be up 2 times, down 1 time.

Now its the other way round, up 1 time, down 2 times.

So I predict a slight drop to $27k+ for Cat A.

It is an open secret that COE rates are controlled by car distributors. This round, they will maintain or reduce prices a little, to whet up appetite for Cars @ Expo to be held on 26-28 Oct. Thereafter, COE prices will rocket North for the next few rounds of bidding.
