The ONT needs to be 2m to the TP but the TV set top box can far away - just need to connect with

an ethernet cable - this cable can be as long as 10, 20, 30m away.

:D

My set top box in Living room very close to ONT.

But STB in study maybe 15m from ONT.

Can't spot any diff in TV picture quality.

But my max download speed for laptop in LIving room maybe 3m from router using wifi is only 280Mbps compared to 1 Gb supposed connection.

Anyone get faster speed??.

Its for men that needs to say

mine is bigger than yours.

So for a lot of men 8k is very important.

:D

Is THAT why the Japanese have 8K???

280mbps using WiFi is already good liao.

The Singtel tech told me average is only 100mbps for WiFi...haha.

To get close to 1gbps, the only way is using Ethernet cable. I get 900mbps for download and upload with my desktop.

To get the maximum speed connect the laptop directly to the ONT by cable.

Remove any limiting factor such as the laptop wifi adapter which may not be able to handle 1Gb speed.

High chance your laptop wired port can handle 1Gb.

I don't know but in Bangkok the ladies told me

they are known as 3 inches, 3 minutes, 3 thousand baht.

I am not sure what they meant I went for the 90 minute Thai for 500 baht and gave them a big tip.

People won't be surprised I am only on HD Ready not even 2K.

Yesterday went to a friend house.

Yes, the white trunking they used to connect from ONT to STB is unsightly.

This is because Starhub management didn't do any thinking.

If they chose a STB with a wireless adapter like those android boxes

then you don't need to put the ugly trunking to your bedroom.

Its amazing how dumb people in top management can be.

Some people have 2 or 3 set top boxes in their homes can you imagine

how much ugly trucking they will have from their living room?

Maybe Starhub can try getting smarter people in top management.

I think I know why.

For years Starhub see themselves as a cable company

so when they choose set top box they choose one with a cable.

They never see themselves as a customer satisfaction company

If the did then which customer wants all the ugly trucking to their bedrooms?

Some people spent thousands on their very beautiful decor and now they have

the ugly trucking sticking out like a sore thumb.

Starhub need to change their thinking from cable so 1980's to wireless of today.

If they hired me as their consultant they would have to pay thousands for this.

Since its new year day 2019 I give this for free.  [thumbsup]

thats the reason i ended the fibre termination point at my door and ran my modem so that the wifi signal will run straight to my son's and daughter's room. My room i used cable broadband as the signal from the ont needs to turn more than 90° which i dont think is possible. My hdb layout......

Not true. .. Non of my current TV's at home are more than 1080i native :D .

Not a videophile (is there such a word? Lol) and not pretending to be one.

Same as I am not an audiophile or wine connoisseur.  :D

Cable broadband bro? You mean using ethernet cable?

ya......the older cables....100mbps. My son using the 500 mbps fibre optics........termination point at the door and i ran the modem myself so that both by children rooms can get a straight signal. Now with sh and singtel going full fibre optics i have to run cables to my tv location which is directly opposite the ont but 7-10 metres away unless they can intro wireless set up boxes......

Just get a good wireless router and you don't need the the cable broadband in your room bro.

If you want even better coverage for wifi, get those mesh router like Google wifi.

But if you are talking about TV then yes it sucks. We are like going backwards, instead of wireless we have to use lay cables and use trunking.

And for those without singtel or starhub, have to use those unsightly digital antenna instead of just a tv cable from the wall to TV. Only good thing is it is easier to shift the TV to anywhere you like.

i still using a desktop to watch youtube and surf internet.....

No ethernet cable port on my laptop and no HDMI port on my small Dell XPS laptop Can I connect to router to my laptop using a USB 3.0 cable and will that give a high download rate.

Just want to check the speed.
