How to watch stuff on laptop on Smart TV.

My laptop has a mini display port and a USB port.

 

My TV has three HDMI ports all in use and a few USB 2 and a USB 3 port.

 

Any way I can watch stuff from my laptop on my Smart TV?

 

My missus wants to watch a Chinese TV series - The story of Yanxi Palace - which she can get on the laptop but would be better watched on the Smart TV.

Thanks but my Smart TV only has three HDMI ports and I am using all of them and I need all of them.

My TV only use 1 HDMI port to connect to blue ray and Apple TV.

Load the movie on a usb and plug the usb into the TV.

Get a cheap hdmi switcher... It can increase the hdmi source input of your TV's limited hdmi ports.

if you have the latest smart tv mean you can cast/mirror what you see on your computer to tv.

Easy way - copy the video files onto a thumbdrive. Stick it into one of the free USB ports.

 

Done.

Non techie method

Get a cheap hdmi switcher... It can increase the hdmi source input of your TV's limited hdmi ports.

Not that obvious... go to your tv source or settings and see if you can find either of this word.....

 

If you are using samsung s8+, it is called smart view. If other phones, Google

 

Basically when you click smart view and connect to your tv. The tv will replicate what is on your phone

Alternatively give us the model of your tv and handphone...

Side track a bit. I recently inherited a smart tv and it would sometimes automatically switched on its own from tv to YouTube mode and the top of the screen would displayed “OPPO (then a few numbers)”. My daughter is the only person under roof uses an OPPO hp.

 

But only once it screened exactly what she was watching on YT at the dining area. What give?

Easiest way.

 

Smart TV so it has internet access just like a computer

 

so can download the movie on to the TV.

 

No need to load movie to laptop and then connect to TV.
