What is a road traffic accident?

During my years as a nurse, I came across many different permutations of the same thing. Where we debate on correct definition. So I was discussing with a friend on road traffic accidents and we realised not everyone have the same thinking. So just want to ask the bros and sisters here.

1) If my car rolled forward at a car park and I knocked you down and lightly injured you (bruises), is it an accident? Do I report to insurance? What if it's a case of me swinging the door open and knocking you down with same injuries? Actions the same?

2) If two e bikes hit each other at the park, is it a traffic accident? What if the same event happened but on the road? Assume no other vehicles involved. Would your definition change if you knew one or both of the bikes are illegally modified?

3) If a car knocked you down on the road, it's considered a road traffic accident. If the same car drove underneath a HDB block and knocked someone down, is it still a road traffic accident?

Here, I am not talking about medical or nursing management. But just that if someone described what happened to you, would you call it an accident? Just curious cos it seems different people think differently and what I thought was standard is not really standard.

Going by the definition in the Road Traffic Act, all 3 scenario should be classified as road traffic accident if it happened on a road (including carpark) regardless whether there's injuries or not.

But accident involving 2 E-bikes in a park is sure tricky...My guess this is personal accident?

Correct me if I'm wrong...

An accident is define as any "object" knock/hit against another object, human, animal, plants, tree, building, signboard, bus stop, traffic lights signal,  .... etc.

The "object" could be anything from living things to lifeless thing : example while walking near a shore, a strong wave knock you off and you hit against a rock, that's also an accident or a human looking at hand phone and unaware of surrounding, knock onto a lamp post & injure, it's still an accident.

Accident happen on a road is a traffic accident

Accident happen at void deck is a void deck accident

Accident happen in a park, it's a park accident

Accident happen at home, it's a home accident

There, hope its clear your thoughts ...   :we-all-gonna-die:

Yes, an accident is when a road going object has inadvertent and unintended contact with another road going object or a construct of the road or an object on the road. "Road" here refers to any public thoroughfare intended for the passage of motor vehicles, and includes gazetted carparks that fall under LTA jurisdiction.

But let's exercise some common sense here. A kerb rash when parking is technically an accident but no one in their right mind would feel compelled to involve insurance for that.

Condom broke at home: home accident.

Condom broke in park: park accident.

Condom broke in changing room: changing room accident.

Condom broke in car: road traffic accident?

I was crossing a road and I was looking at my handsome.

The young lady in front of me change lane without checking behind and I rear ended her.

Is that a road traffic accident?

:D

It was a gentle coming together and I didn't suffer a kerb rash.

I never hide anything and I got nothing to hide.

I think everyone knows I already come out as a lesbian trapped in a man's body.

I shot gun when condom broke and baby coming.

I don't think I got any more secrets to hide.

I think everyone knows I say no to western porn as I support Asian values.

I also think everyone should live in a commune with no clothes so you can call me a commune nudist.
