ChaosMyth 5th Gear December 5, 2018 Share December 5, 2018 (edited) SINGAPORE: New three-dimensional (3D) traffic calming markings, aimed at encouraging motorists to reduce speed, will be trialled along the Whampoa Drive Silver Zone towards the end of December. In a press release on Wednesday (Dec 5), the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said the markings, which were adopted from Japan, are intended to encourage motorists to reduce their speed because of the perceived narrower lane width. "The trial will help LTA assess the effectiveness of these new markings," the press release added. Silver Zones are specially-demarcated areas in residential zones with a large population of elderly residents and a relatively high accident rate involving seniors. Accident rates within Silver Zones have been reduced by almost 75 per cent, with an average of 14 cases per year to 4 cases per year in the 15 completed Silver Zones. There are ongoing works for another 10 Silver Zones. Kopites Supersonic December 5, 2018 Share December 5, 2018 My stand. A good move by LTA on the safety aspectof our road. Amount will be well spend as long as it can prevent/reduce accident rate.

Mkl22 Twincharged December 5, 2018 Share December 5, 2018 (edited) Really waste tax payers money... It really seems like we have a bunch of croonies to feed. It’s all about coming up with new ideas to get promoted. With no ideas or only doing grunt work, how can one expect to move up the ranks in civil service. That’s why we get a bunch of shitty ideas these days. Cause everyone trying to out do one another and forvever trialing new stuff. Only ever gets reported all the supposed new trials but fail to wrap things up by providing a conclusion to the failed ones. If things work and it is for the better I don’t mind. But majority of their hair brained ideas don’t work. And in the end the tax payers pay for all their nonsense. The transport minister can claim about only changing things if it is better and more efficient for air space control. But what about his own LTA under him? Are they doing likewise? I rest my case. The highways in Aussie displays your speed (the speed cam is mounted above the speed signage board) and inform you that the camera will snap when u hit a certain figure. I am sure we can follow that. ↡ Advertisement
