Err.. China is no victim .. if anything, it's record is appalling.

If a Chinese did a crime in his own country and ran off to an ang mo country and their whole families change citizenship to evade arrest what do you expect them to do ? Let it go ? A very different situation here compared to a Huawei case. Put it in another angle, why the ang mo country wants to protect another country's criminal. It just show how much respect for one another. Just like our young chap Amos ran elsewhere to get protection. They should have just thrown him back here to face the music.

Holding children hostage?

I'm sure if you just Google more, you'd find many more cases of absolutely horrendous detentions and disappearances. That's why they are not trusted.

Never heard of Simon though.

another kena nabbed in Poland

https://edition.cnn.com/2019/01/11/tech/poland-huawei-exec-arrest/index.html

do you dare to use Huawei phone? [sly]

To be fair.. even if nothing wrong with huawei equipment, you can spy as long as you have access to the network.

It isn't clear in this case yet.

A big problem is that if the Chinese ask hw to do something, will it be refused?

Their laws require cooperation.

Now Huawei decides to feed him(Wang Weijing) to the sharks. Apparently, he's not indispensable like his CFO.

Of course they will comply. You mean apple will refuse to comply if US govt requests the same?

Snowden already exposed the fact that all the us tech companies have given our data to the NSA under the prism program.

Frankly how does it matter to me that the Chinese get access to the same data?

US needs a court order, means there's paper trace for Congress and media to supervise. There's no such thing in China, any low rank engineer can look into your private photos you taken with your small three.

I defer to wikipedia's knowledge of this.

According to The Guardian, NSA had access to chats and emails on Hotmail.com, Skype, because Microsoft had "developed a surveillance capability to deal" with the interception of chats, and "for Prism collection against Microsoft email services will be unaffected because Prism collects this data prior to encryption."[41][42][43]

Also according to The Guardian's Glenn Greenwald even low-level NSA analysts are allowed to search and listen to the communications of Americans and other people without court approval and supervision. Greenwald said low level Analysts can, via systems like PRISM, "listen to whatever emails they want, whatever telephone calls, browsing histories, Microsoft Word documents.[30] And it's all done with no need to go to a court, with no need to even get supervisor approval on the part of the analyst."[44]

A LinkedIn profile for Wang showed he has worked for Huawei's Polish division since 2011 and previously served as attache to the Chinese General Consul in Gdansk from 2006-2011. Wang did not immediately respond to a request for comment via the social media site.
