there was a food program few nights back which featured home preparation of bak kwa, regular and vegan. vegan one is made from toufu iirc ...

actually I don't mind sampling a piece of the vegan one.

There was two guys raising funds for a hospital in Toa Payoh at Army market last week. They were walking around selling vegetarian bak kwa. I didn't buy, i only donate to their cause. Cant recall the hosipital name.

Dont know only rich people think like this le? But har if buy bak kwa as gift, i still think must buy some have brand de, if not like very 'stingy' lo. Unless buy for own consumption maybe not so particular on branding la, taste is more important.u

Haha yeah lor,.

Imagine if buy for your GF/BF's parents. Of course must buy something got brand one or at least Lao zi hao.

If the bak kwa taste lousy, then at least the parents will say, aiyoh this famous brand, quality no good.

But if u buy a no name brand and it tastes lousy ...  [laugh]  [:p]

Ya, since the eve of 9-11!

I don't normally go for mock meat stuff as I feel the preparation process might make the food unhealthy. Further more, if I were to eat mock meat, I might as well eat the real ones!

I would normally go for natural veggies, not mock!
