StreetFight3r 6th Gear December 26, 2018 Share December 26, 2018 (edited) Any engineers here? Is this still structurally safe to stay? Say if suay suay happens in SG, government declare HDB building still safe for 3/4 of residents to stay, but the other 1/4 got some works need to be carried out to be declared safe again.. will you sell or stay put?? https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2018/dec/26/opal-tower-cracks-nsw-government-urgent-investigation The Daily Telegraph can reveal photographs of plaster crumbling off the wall on level 10, and where possible structural cracks forced a mass evacuation of the Olympic Park building. Large cracks, seen running vertically along the wall, were examined by structural engineers yesterday, who were called in to assess the integrity of the internal support wall. Laser monitors detected no further movement from the building. The Daily Telegraph understands the cracks had appeared in a precast panel which had been manufactured off-site. It is understood an outer face of concrete came under pressure and a layer came off. The concrete transfers load, or weight, to the structural column. The cracks are reportedly all on a panel on level 10, but there are 51 units which have a line to that panel. https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/nsw/shocking-photos-show-the-extent-of-damage-inside-cracking-opal-tower/news-story/2a97d820bdbf9d7b393209c8d4e759e0?utm_campaign=EditorialSF&utm_source=DailyTelegraph&utm_content=SocialFlow&utm_medium=Facebook Edited December 26, 2018 by StreetFight3r ↡ Advertisement

Just like one ah neh who drank water from the water tank where a maid's body was found to prove water is safe to drink. In the not too far past, there were some buildings found to be structurally unsafe like Maryland Park. http://eresources.nlb.gov.sg/newspapers/Digitised/Article/straitstimes19881025-1.2.56 Another is Windy Heights at Eunos in the 80s. ↡ Advertisement
