Malaysia Airlines will not be shut by government: Lim Guan Eng

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng has given his assurance that the government is not going to close down Malaysia Airlines.

Clarifying that Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad’s statement on the issue had been misconstrued, Lim said that the government would not shut down the national carrier, and it was merely one of the options presented to the Prime Minister.

"Mahathir was only talking about the various options that were presented (to him) on Malaysia Airlines. He was not talking about closing down Malaysia Airlines," Lim told reporters on Wednesday (Mar 13).

I think they need somebody or some company to bail out M'sia Airlines. Since the govt is broke they obviously cannot do it. So who's willing? They must be trying what they can to save it as it carries the Nation's name and flag.

Confirm will come with lots of T&C.

When we were growing up

we were taught one thing

Crime doesn't pay.

Today the new morality is

Only

When you have people taking office to be rich first then serve, what to expect?

From my observation I think Dr M is showing his age with spotted lapse of coherent memory and thought processes.

Being a PM is no easy job at 93 where you need a lot of siesta time to recuperate.

Admiration for him, their generation, can do spirit despite all odds.

Turbocharged

Not only prc boycott even many singaporean also dont dare to fly with MAS

I’ve flown several times with Malaysian Airlines after the double tragedy. No problems. Food is good. Service is ok. Got new movies on TV. Just watched the Oscar winning Bohemian Rhapsody on flight.

But almost every flight I took, sure got plenty of empty seats.

MH is a big employer and its not just about them but a whole ecosystem (eg, catering, engineering/maintenance, cleaning, airport) built around them. So I think shutting down is not the way to go.

They'll have to figure out some way to make it work.

Read that some years back they decided to streamline their operations to be a regional airline instead of competing with the big boys in the international arena. But with changes in CEOs guess things got muddled.

Wish things work out for MH.  [thumbsup]

Yes to those legally employed employee ..... :we-all-gonna-die:

How about those "suspicious" or undertable ones ...  [lipsrsealed]
