Independent reviews of doctors and outcomes.

Turbocharged

I am thinking with all these legislations, medical displinary councils, and all the money spent, won’t it be more efficient to create a body to track the outcomes of the patients of various Doctors?

It is a step towards a value based healthcare where pay is linked directly to patient outcome but that is hard to do.

One of the problems is that patients does not know who are the good Doctors. The government can set up an independent body to survey patients and track outcomes. Apply a consistent metric and make the information publicly available.

It’s like word of mouth but regulated and much more reliable.

It is also safer for Doctors as your practise is unlikely to be destroyed by one bad patient assuming u have lots of glowing reviews from other patients.

Of course u have to start thinking about whether your patient will be happy after the treatment as now there is a stronger impact...

imo Polyclinics are just triage centers for hospital consultants.

But there again the private sector is money oriented.

I had a poor experience with a private sector consultant here and luckily didn't take his advice for a very painful procedure which he insisted on carrying out the following day and which cleared up after I simply used Potassium permanganate on the recommendation of a doctor in the UK who I was lucky enough to see a few days later as I had a planned trip to the UK ahead of me..

No, not a good suggestion. I dont think it's fair for the doctor profession.

Frankly speaking, ppl's expectation are not reasonable that's why got TS kind of suggestion.

One thing ppl should remind themselves is that doctors aren't miracle healers and the medicine they prescribed arent xian dan. They are more like medical detectives (they need information of your symptoms in order to diagnose your condition or they need your blood to find out what is wrong with you), think of the show "House". If you know the show well you will know doctors like all humans make mistakes. Of course it's the patient who will suffer and sometimes even leads to death but there are still much to learn. A lot of things medical we are only scratching the surface.

Technology and medical science are constantly evolving to help us. I think ppl need to be patient and not just think of themselves.

Doctors are not just a job to pay bills and rent. Needless to say it goes beyond that.  Last thing we need is a popular contest.

Ok lah, have a painfulgowhere.com or sickgowhere.com.

There are such reviews available though, but is tied to clinic and not to specific doctor.

I would like to understand:

Why when doctors make mistake (even honest mistake or benefit tot the patient) they get punished BUT judges make judgement mistake in district or magistrate courts nothing happens except the case get "upgraded" to a HIGHER COURT at the expense of claimant or defendant?
