Hi

Just to check for those who frequent malaysia, other than data passport, is there any cheap alternative in getting data plan?

Most of the ICC only provide data for short term? Any advice on getting 6 months and above data sim?

thanks

i'm using Onexox.

S$20 for 10G+10G, Simcard active for 28 months.

1st 10G for 1st month. i.e. starts when u sign up, remember to cancel auto-recurring, or ur sim card data will empty out in 2 mths.

2nd 10G is like a bank...u withdraw what u need. 4 me i withdraw 500M/month (remember to cancel auto recurring). There are other options like 1G/month, 2G/month etc.

If not enough or used up within e month, just cancel e current subscription, and withdraw again.

Make sure u hav withdraw enough data or hav enough balance data from previous withdrawal to start with.

There is no complimentary data from Onexox, once u finish e quota (what u withdraw), thats it, even if u still hav quota in e bank.

If u r using it on an extra hp, no problem, can always send USSD code to withdraw.

If u r using MIFI, either make sure it supports USSD code, or alternatively, once data used up....look for free wifi (hotel, starbucks, McDonald's...) to withdraw w e app.

There's an onexox app, you can withdraw/check ur quota with it also.

The custom traffic chat that turns into a fuel check reporting chat I got says XOX (https://xox.com.my/plans/onexox/) offers the best bang for active travelers into MY. I stand corrected as I have not gone through the details cos I am trapped with my Hotlink that still have a pile of RMs in the prepaid card that I have accumulated over the years.

u relocating there? the usual telcom companies will have prepaid/post paid plans.

I have been using DIGI for years. There are probably better n newer companies (see above) but i'm lazy to change

can choose to buy data for 1 day, 1 week, 1 mth etc.

https://new.digi.com.my/auto-renew-plans

note that different telcom companies will have strengths in network coverage so if this data connection is important for you, better do  some research (ask the locals in the area which u will be staying/roaming around in)

I just use hotlink...the price is nothing if we are so used to Singtel or Starhub here...monthly pass is around RM30-70 depending on the data plan u need....My main reason is Maxis 4G network is still the King in Malaysia versus Celcom  [:p]
