Yes.  I did it !!!

 

I ownself repair my car aircon - Change Evaporator (Cooling Coil) ($130), Discharge Hose ($45) and Compressor ($230).

 

I bought new tools like Manifold Gauge, Quick Release Connector and 1/2" ACME Valve - $50, Vacuum Pump - $130.

 

 

It take about 1.5 day to replace the Cooling Coil and 4 hours to replace the Compressor and Discharge Hose.

 

 

Yes, you can buy these small canister and ownself fill up. But, how much to fill up ?  For my case, my car need 680g of 134a - 2 cans.

The repair is quite extreme and very labour intensive.  I don't recommend you do it, if you never even ownself change a serpentine belt before. I even added a tracer oil so the next time it breakdown (touchwood) I can trace the leak with a UV light.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It is possible to buy a tank coolant and top up the air coolant ourselves? Where got sell?

What is the market rate/non-chop carrot rate for a gas top up service today?

HDB, of course. Plan B, go to distant cousin place.  Got a big garage.

 

But I am mindful not to disturb the peace and I know neighbours by name.  So OK.

 

And no mess, no oil, not even a tissue paper drop on the slot.

Was not planning to ownself change the cooling coil lor.  Only compressor - very noisy and discharge hose - Easily job, leaking very very slowly.

 

But after ordering the compressor and hose then the cooling coil break lor.

 

Want to go Century Auto but the VEP and jam and sending a compressor could see them pull a long face.  And then even after they repair the cooling coil if ownself change compressor then I have to discharge a full 680g of 134a into atmosphere and increase global warming - Very bad.

 

So ownself do lor, anyway the pressure have drop too low for the compressor to kick in, so no more/much gas in the system.

 

So bobian, ownself do. Good DIY experience.

 

Make sure you have a carton of beer to drink after work !!! 100 Plus don't work for me.

 

My experience from this DIY, everything is EXACT Fit and they used a lot of sponge to reduce vibration and noise.  Trying to align the mounting hole for the Evaporator Module is difficult lor.

 

Wanted to give up 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 times.  

 

The new cheap compressor is awesome, I did not even hear it kick in.  Hope this good time last.

btw, u even clean up the dirt & glue on inner door panel after removing the translucent plastic sheet?

 

please also teach me how to remove the actuator to service the small motor bro if u don't mind.

You are talking about the RH door which I remove so not to damage the plastic cover ???

 

The translucent plastic sheet is actually inside that tin cover.

 

You can actually remove the actuator by just removing that 3 screws.   That all you need to do.  But hor the motor is not serviceable and need to be replaced lor.

 

if your power window is giving problem, probably your pulley system have kaput or about to kaput.  The motor is quite robust and rarely failed lor.

 

I ever changed the rear left side of the pulley, you need to buy that whole tin metal sheet - it is an assembly module and not an individual pulley lor ..... 

 

For front side, not sure if it is the whole assembly or just the pulley.

ps bro, i referring to central lock controlled by remote. manual lock n unlock ok, only when using remote not strong enough to central lock or unlock, must wait few minutes, if not after remote lock / unlock, must use key insert to door n do the same.

 

is it smthg to do with actuator motor or m i wrong?

 

the actuator is around 100, but i wanna try diy first as saw some youtube video, only unsure wc few bolt to loosen n also how to unlatch door lock link extension.

Oh ....... called the "gun" ....... to actuator to lock/unlock the door.

 

a)  It is inside the tin panel.

 

b) To take out the tin panel you need to disconnect the window glass from the panel.

 

You see that there is a few big holes sealed by the grommet ?

Unplug them.

 

c) Adjust the window such that the edge is about that holes zone.

 

d) Power off.  

 

e) There is a clip catch to hold the window, is a screw driver to poke the catch and disconnect the window.  Pull the window glass up and secure it by tape .....

 

f) Unscrew  and remove tin panel sheet.  You must need to chisel to cut away 2~3 rivets that is secure to the door lock.

 

DO NOT force open, may damage lock.

 

 

Do reverse to assemble again.

 

I think hor, you need to buy new one, look like not so serviceable again .....
