But i think SG is thinking of a 'different pathway,' as in he's trying to prove himself as a manager (his own man) first, and this could obviously only be done outside and not take the risk and let him trial-and-error in LFC senior team in the meantime. Only when he's done that, then he will feel he's ready, and also the club will be comfortable with him taking over. This is different from what you mentioned: understudy and continue the method/approach, which maybe SG might not want. Given that he had spent most of his - largely viewed as successful though not brilliant - career at Pool, it was reported that the club would welcome him back in the future. LFC unsurprisingly seems to always worry Pepsi Guardiola and his bands of troubled fans. It's akin to a LFC supporter going to MC forum thread (sadly not very popular here) saying :- mate, Man Shitty's gonna relegated. :)) If that is the case, then Liverpool winning FA cup this year would sound belly belly encouraging.
