Thanks for this information.

 

Well, what the point of hiring artificially creating a job opening, just to hire a graduate - when you can't assure them of a future.

Becos Ah gong wanna make sure all these SMART Super Graduates are hired!

 

Even retrenchment they also got a say.. cannot retrench too many in short time.. don look good in report card.. slowly slowly release hoh.. i know as last time i report work to water plant then stir coffee for months

Pple have one extradetion bill, demo non stop.. even civil servants.

 

We have it bad? Blame ourselves lor

The bill is the last straw, the trigger point.

 

Can see a lot of pent up frustration from the locals.

 

Think the core built up is quality of life due to accommodation.

ð¤£ð¤£ our scholars are the very product and beneficiaries of the system.. some would say a system by, of, for these very scholars.

 

They were given fat fat jobs from start to end that sometimes make people wonder what makes them qualified .. quite different from the ground pounders.

Although I've a differing opinion. I would like to think that our some of our scholar are quite smart in coming out with government policies. So much so that the government become too power while ordinary people suffer and grind like hell.

 

I would like to think that although the government has made efforts to allow some of these scholars to interact and mix with ordinary people, these scholars also need to under the implication and the restriction is create that will have an impact on the bigger part of the society.

 

Instead, what I would like to suggest is to get these scholars to work at the lower level of the hierarchy of the society, so that they will come out with ideas and solution that will help pur companies instead of helping the government to become too big and powerful. When you mixed power and intellectual intelligence, what you get is a dangerous cocktails of alcohol that will make everyone work even harder

2 decades ago, they screwed up all the local technology folks by bringing in tons of sub par IT people.

 

I can't believe they are doing it again.

 

They never see it is it? Why they can't find good local tech people? This is what happened long ago.

 

 

We have local talents that can do medicine degrees going into computing 2 decades ago, mind you, it was really hard getting into computing school (all the straight As students).

 

Problem is, people were forced out of the industry and over the years, there were very little locals doing it. Now, it's so FREAKING easy to get into computing school that I think they might as well close it.

 

Now, they are repeating the same thing all over  [hur]

This 'open leg' policy is bad. when the top people in a particular organization is from a particular country, then you see a flooding of that nationalities. Actually this is not new. If you have been to hotel industry, not difficult to notice most of the senior management are from where. Do they add value? That part those directly performing the tasks can elaborate. Owner happy can liao.

This 'open leg' policy is bad. when the top people in a particular organization is from a particular country, then you see a flooding of that nationalities. Actually this is not new. If you have been to hotel industry, not difficult to notice most of the senior management are from where. Do they add value? That part those directly performing the tasks can elaborate. I have seen this happening.. it's their culture.

That one small peanut .. I strongly believe the law needs to be stiffen when a big bank is threatened.

SINGAPORE — A former senior staff member at Standard Chartered Bank (Stanchart) in Singapore was fined S$10,000 on Thursday (Aug 8), for tricking the senior management into believing that sensitive data relating to the bank would be leaked.

 

Nagarajan Balajee, 36, who had worked at Stanchart for 15 years, took this action in September last year because he was trying to stop an impending retrenchment exercise — one where he had been asked to identify the employees who were to get the axe.

 

The court heard that the Indian national was stressed at the prospect of having to retrench his fellow employees, several of whom had pleaded with him to be able to keep their jobs.

 

Nagarajan, who was head of financial and management reporting (digital banking), had tried to persuade his line manager, Mr Farid Ferdous Howladar, to discontinue the retrenchment exercise, but to no

well alot of FT got kampong spirits they will try to bring their kar wang in no matter how.. no need to see far.. see those from near neighbors who work in mgmt post n see how many they brought in..

 

Education system failed long ago and make worse when pple don have a good job BUT with good education start to teach to survive.. pay not bad compare to what offers out there.. ask if they have passion to groom n develop?

Interestingly the misused of computer act did not kick in

 

Mr Farid told him that it was a necessary cost-cutting measure and assured him that Stanchart had measures to help retrenched employees find new jobs.

 

Then on Sept 27 last year, Nagarajan prepared an article titled “Is Standard Chartered Bank failing in its Digital Transformation agenda?”, and sent it anonymously to Mr Aalishaan Zaidi, the global head of digital banking, in a desperate bid to change his mind.

 

In the email, Nagarajan tried to extort S$500,000 from Mr Viswanathan Ramachandran, the group head of retail banking, by threatening to publish the article on social media unless he agreed to pay the sum by 11am the next day.

 

To render his threat more credible, he attached a PDF file containing the article, as well as photographs of two confidential Stanchart audit reports in the email.

 

Mr Aalishaan panicked upon realising that the email attachments contained genuine information that was meant only for internal circulation, and alerted the bank’s management to the email.

 

Mr Aalishaan made a police report at about 7pm that night.

 

This sparked an extensive investigation that saw the police convening a case conference with the Stanchart management, compiling a list of employees who had been or were at risk of retrenchment, and conducting background checks on them.

 

Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Etsuko Lim said that the investigation even employed the help of Google, which helped to “conduct screenings”.

 

These steps led the police to the wrong suspect, because Nagarajan could not be traced through an IP address since he had used his mobile phone to email Mr Aalishaan, which used a SIM card belonging to a Stanchart-issued mobile phone an employee had misplaced. The mobile connections rendered the connecting IP addresses volatile, the DPP said.
