Atonchia Supersonic August 10, 2019 Share August 10, 2019 Interestingly the misused of computer act did not kick in Mr Farid told him that it was a necessary cost-cutting measure and assured him that Stanchart had measures to help retrenched employees find new jobs. Then on Sept 27 last year, Nagarajan prepared an article titled âIs Standard Chartered Bank failing in its Digital Transformation agenda?â, and sent it anonymously to Mr Aalishaan Zaidi, the global head of digital banking, in a desperate bid to change his mind. In the email, Nagarajan tried to extort S$500,000 from Mr Viswanathan Ramachandran, the group head of retail banking, by threatening to publish the article on social media unless he agreed to pay the sum by 11am the next day. To render his threat more credible, he attached a PDF file containing the article, as well as photographs of two confidential Stanchart audit reports in the email. Mr Aalishaan panicked upon realising that the email attachments contained genuine information that was meant only for internal circulation, and alerted the bankâs management to the email. Mr Aalishaan made a police report at about 7pm that night. This sparked an extensive investigation that saw the police convening a case conference with the Stanchart management, compiling a list of employees who had been or were at risk of retrenchment, and conducting background checks on them. Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Etsuko Lim said that the investigation even employed the help of Google, which helped to âconduct screeningsâ. These steps led the police to the wrong suspect, because Nagarajan could not be traced through an IP address since he had used his mobile phone to email Mr Aalishaan, which used a SIM card belonging to a Stanchart-issued mobile phone an employee had misplaced. The mobile connections rendered the connecting IP addresses volatile, the DPP said. No head not tail leh. Mercury1 Turbocharged August 10, 2019 Share August 10, 2019 Haha I worked with some of these guys before, it was a stupid stunt to pull knowing nothing will be gained from it. Also most of the senior ft staff have been working there for decades but I do notice a trend where they try to recruit from people they know. That said the bank has put in a hire local first drive making it now extremely hard to hire ft for open positions. Lotr 6th Gear August 11, 2019 Share August 11, 2019 Don't think is no talent. If measure talent by education level. Supply side. It's clear singaporeans are capped from university places. The fact that so many people then get their degrees overseas (billions spent?ð¤) and go on to successful careers proves talent no issue.. its artificial cap. That so much is then spent on FT scholars is an insult to Singaporean parents who sacrifice their "coffin capital" sending children overseas. The liberal entry of FT graduates is a confirmation that the local cap is a stupid decision. Demand side. Cost.(Price competitive) I may be terribly wrong.. but I suspect the early 90s is when things went crazy. Housing prices rocketed while income crawled. Locals became less competitive compared to foreigners through no fault of theirs as they needed to price in home ownership. This had permanent effect. Also, we REALLLYYYYY need to talk about Chennai Business Park and Mumbai Bay Financial Centre... is there real logic? We've went from actively educating, training, grooming our competitors to now literally having entire sectors taken over. Sectors that were supposed to be the future of our workers... our nation. But got bright spot.. Well... I know one niche sector is doing splendidly.. numbers keep growing, salary already number one, lifetime employment, protected market. ð Just guessing... Civil service?

Mercury1 Turbocharged August 12, 2019 Share August 12, 2019 I don't disagree but it extended to them looking for people recommended by other people (to curry favors) even if the qualifications were lacking, additionally by bringing someone who is an ft there is a sense of indebtedness and subjugation going on. Haha anyway I can only mention the tip of the iceberg but thats one reason why HR also came down hard on the hire local first rule. I think that people tend to hire people they know irregardless of Singaporeans, Malaysians PRs, Indian PRs, just to varying degrees. Biasness is human nature. Mercury1 Turbocharged August 12, 2019 Share August 12, 2019 I was involving in posting the job portal, engaging recruitment agencies and working with HR. The hire local rule is strongly enforced in my department anyway, the only easiest way to hire an ft to fill the position is either via internal transfer or some really strong backing via senior mgmt. But even the senior mgmt need to give strong justification and they would not be willing to stick their necks out unless they are some stronger incentive for them. That said admittedly the ft brought in typically work much harder compared to the local pool, additionally point to note here is that you're average out sourced worker in India will have way much more experience then your local worker. I trained fresh workers from Wipro back in 2005 in India and within a span of 3 years the more capable ones would have already experience the below just thru the nature of outsourcing. Your typical Uni grad is unlikely to engage anywhere near their level of exposure unfortunately. 1. Operate across multiple disciplines of the bank thru rotation (Settlements, Corporate Action, Middle Office etc) 2. Run a large team (10+) 3. Been to multiple locations for training, i.e US, UK, SGP, HK Not really. They still disable the job portal now and then so yout application is like the bermuda triangle. That what i was told.Contractor are earning tons from the mickey mouse hide n seek arrangement.

Likewise for Singaporeans based oversea we work harder too.. When I was in China I work on both weekends and long overtime.. Why? because no distraction from family, no need send kids here n there.. no need do housework.. no need take care of dogs.. tonne of reasons. That's why alot of FT are overtaking us in the local context. They like us oversea do not need to do that above.. they can work overtime, work weekends etc.. what matters to them is the need to make the Money send back home. For us local here we need to balance alot of things.. even some are coping hard with MIL issue!

It's operates literally like 7 eleven.. eat there sleep there until people complain of bad smell. But can't blame them.. where can they go?? Even late at night, many would hang around using the computers to video chat with families back home. Anyone who say local don't work as hard as cheaply, I say... you come do la talk so much. Biasness is human nature. Yes. When need to hire, we'd ask around the department usually if they know some good fellows that can recommend. In specialised industry, it's mostly like that. You need to be qualified for sure, but being known to the industry helps you get your foot in. That's why we always tell young graduates to polish their soft skills and network around. One way to prevent such entrenched "ghettos" springing up in the office is to deliberately scatter and mix the seating. Ody_2004 Turbocharged August 12, 2019 Share August 12, 2019 One way to prevent such entrenched "ghettos" springing up in the office is to deliberately scatter and mix the seating. you can keep them physically apart but never mentally.. use of office communicator.. whatsapp, wechat, viber, you name it.. they using it. beside once the decision to hire them separating them this way may not be productive.. even we Singaporean aboard will always or shall i say Like to mingle among ourselves.. nothing wrong i see.. Importantly the FT/staff/candidate is really worth it compare to a local here. If they really prove themselves yes hiring of FT is a way forward. If we are displacing local that can perform equally to a FT, who can commit equally to a FT etc that's another story.

If send 1 staff will finish in 3 days, if send 2 staff will finish in 5 days. If send 1 staff they will work to 9 or 10 because in hotel nothing to do. If send 2 staff they will stop work at 6 pm and go for a nice dinner till 9 or 10 using expense account. If send me will always take 2 week. Don't have to see MIL for 2 weeks. ↡ Advertisement
