Looking at 7 seater cars which are running on Diesel. Currently driving a Volvo S80 D2 which runs on Diesel and i like that it is fuel efficient. Now i am intending to change to 7 seater variant and looking for inputs from fellow members here.

Skip Diesel.  Sooner or later, will be screwed in similar fashion as CNG.

Look for hybrid MPV.

In what way? Care to elaborate?

Hybrid MPV i can only think of Toyota Prius+ and Honda Freed.. Not interested in bigger models

I think he mean not that comfy for 7 to seat, given their width.

Actually I never sat in them before so...

Only MPVs that I have sat in before these few years were the Kia Carens (quite cramped backseat I feel) and Suzuki Ertiga (Surprisingly roomy backseat).

Very few new diesel models u can buy now, unless u want to look at the Renault grand scenic which is a 7 seater or the used car market.

If you can share with us your budget, I think many bros here can better recommend.

For efficiency, you can look at the following decent sized 7 seaters that's quite efficient and will probably be about the same running cost of your diesel:

Skip Serena e-power.  Battery too small.

Most hybrid car has bigger battery.

Perhaps can consider a 2nd hand unit for family duties, and the savings would be a lot more than the petrol surcharges

Renault grand scenic is the obvious and popular choice. Kia also have some diesel 7 seaters: sorrento, carens, Iirc but don't know if still have new cars.

That is a much better defined criteria. In term of space and visibility, Citroen Grand C4 Picasso is the winner.

All the compact MPVs are cramped and there's not much leg space for 3rd row. I think till now, the original Toyota Wish has one of the best-thought 3rd row seats. One will have to get the boxy or full-sized MPVs to have more leg space for 3rd row.
