GERMAN aviation startup Volocopter on Wednesday announced its commitment to launch air taxi services in Singapore, following two years of "close collaboration" with the city.

Volocopter's emission-free aircraft takes off and lands vertically. Each autonomous electric drone can carry up to two passengers.

In partnership with the Economic Development Board of Singapore (EDB) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), the startup plans to launch air taxi services in the Republic within the next three years.

Anyone down for this?

I wonder what airspace and routes can they use?

I guess recreational drone flyers will be even more restricted now.

I suspect its limited to within the CBD where there's no commercial flight path

In NYC, Uber has a helicopter service. Which is understandable as traffic in NYC is bad and JFK airport is abt an hour's ride away.

https://www.uber.com/us/en/ride/uber-copter/

But going from Marina Bay/CBD to Changi airport is only 15-20 mins away by teksi. Why bother w the risk of riding in an oversized drone?

for billionaires to fly penthouse direct to office.

Maybe this can serve as an alternative choice of transport, esp in case there is a massive jam on the expressway and people are rushing to go to the airport?! Lol.

In sg, from one place to another place would not take long on normal traffic situation, but if traffic jam then problem liao.
