may be can you elaborate what is your like ?

cost / power lost / drag / ride comfort / FC / look ?

trust me you cant have all above.

16 better than 17 overall(above) except the look

if you little better comfort and ride on 16 , do consider tyre size 195/50/16

Towards look and handling as will visit GH occasionally

Looking at 16, should be all rounded.

17, is it true width when wider at 215 will be tougher to drive?

I have been on 16 but never 17

yes it is true that wider the tire need more power to roll .

don't always think wider the better (is actually wider is bad for wet especially on cheapo tire)

if you do go up north I will say 16 better than 17

for 16 do consider 195/50/16 if not after high performance type

205/45/16 has wider range of HP tyre

do go for premium tire when one is looking at all rounder and reliability

4 tires is only contacts between you and road

For the NCP93 Vios (2007-2013), closest 16" tyre profile should be 205/50/16. But a 205/45/16 also can if you don't mind the tyres circumference being smaller.

Very tempted to go for 17, but more or less settle for 16.

Thanks for the profile, thanks

With many oem cars coming with min 16 inch, does it appear that 15inch ..both rim n tyre choice may soon b uncommon? With limited choices of tyre brand?

Sorry to bump old thread. But better than creating a new one eh? I realised the Vios E is 15" wheels and the Vios G is 16" wheels. So their handling characteristics would be different hor?

If I'm more keen on maximising fuel efficiency, advisable to downgrade to 14" wheels ma? But that would make the car's handling even worse right?

Also, what's the estimated selling price of the stock 15" wheels? (I buy a new set and sell the stock ones off)?

My previous vios was on 14 from stock. Handling wide can consider to add a front struts bar to give a more stable drive.  As for fuel efficiency the correct tire pressure and regular maintenance should help.

I reckon 14 to 15 is more for aesthetic rather than driving "feel".

2006 bios i was able to achieve around 15/16 per ltr. Higher in NSHW.

Have to calculate cost of buying new 14 rims and tyres

with the savings from going smaller.

You have to do a lot of miles to make the marginal

savings in fuel to make the change worth while.

This is a Vios so not much loss in handling

but the ride quality will improve a bit.

:D

Actually 14 is already good for the vios since it's not using hybrid engine. Only diesel or hybrid engine can venture to 20 and above region

Sell car take public transport. Sorry if the truth hurts.

Whatever measures one take will never gain back the ROI.

Fuel saved is too insignificant.

Ah thanks for this. So conversely, if change to 16" inch wont suffer much in terms of FC? From 14 km/to 13?

Can get back one as long as the COE keep increasing. My car value now (on the mycarforum valuation) is more than what I bought it for =DDD

Mine was the 1st generation facelift. Not this generation.
