Inconsistent throttling

Inconsistent throttling on my S80. Only happens when car is on D and stationery, the car might stall sometimes. What is the problem??

I've tried trouble shooting and i've come to these few conclusions

1) The throttling returns to normal when i shift it to N or P.

2) The throttling returns to normal when i switch off the air-con.

Need advice.

"Inconsistent throttling"

Hi! there, boyboy,

Check your sparkplugs first. Are the plug cables providing a clean spark?

Clean your AFM, check the ignition relays, fuel pump & relay, how old is the fuel regulator?

When's the last time you clean the airfilter?

Rgds

Was having the same problem after 90,000km and SM replaced the throttle body. Cost more than a k for the replacement.

Try cleaning it first.

Two possible causes -

a) Vacuum leak - check vacuum hose connections to intake plenum

b) Hot wire in throttle housing malfuctioning - unable to send the correct DCvolt corresponding to throttle opening.

Hot wire has a very special coating - do not attempt to clean with aerosol degreaser or carburator cleaner. The best cleaning fluid - electronic component contact cleaner
