Hi, Alyc

Call Auto Dynamacs and look for Raymond Cheng at 9604 9819

He did for my Mondeo at $180. See below.

Cheers.

Thanks Bro! [grouphug]

But isn't 180 bucks a bit steep for such an operation? [dizzy]

Hi ALYC,

You may feel its abit steep to pay that amount for heatshielding and CAI...But frankly, I feel AD does quite a good job at it and its quite a labour-intensive job to nicely do up a heatshield. Perhaps you can go down and talk to Raymond to see what he says, maybe your ride doesn't cost that much to do the heatshield and CAI.

Alternatively, if you are good at DIYing, you can go get some insulating foam and aluminium/rubber tubing to shield it up on your own and route a CAI. Cost is definitely much cheaper.

Hi Pringoz,

U mean the 180 bucks is for heat shield plus CAI?

$180 is for both CAI and heat-shield.

I stayed and watch the mechanic do it. It was indeed a lot of work. He has to take out the resonator and many other bits and pieces. The heat shield material is actually the bonnet insulator. He cut it, sandwiched an aluminum plate bewteen them and fit it along the contours of the filter.

I think some cars will be easier to fit than others. I did felt the price was a little steep but I'm not exactly a DIY person. So I pay the expert to do his job. Quite well done, I must say.

Yep. $180 is Heatshield with a CAI piping. Agree with Darth_Mel that its alot of work. Basically remove your whole original airbox (battery for me as well), and lay the base with stainless steel plating (need to cut the plates nicely somemore), then cover it with insulating foam.

I also watch the mech work on it and he started at 10am and finished at 3pm, even skipping his lunch just to complete it....thats how much work it involves. Of course, I am not a DIY person and wanna make the engine bay look more "customised" and "pro" looking, so i opted for a workshop to fix it.

You can DIY to that standard also provided you got the materials and time to do it. For me, its just plain lazy [:p]

A Jedi gains power through understanding.

A Sith gains understanding through power.

A MCFer gains power by modding. The understanding can come later or be ignored. [sly]

My ride took abt 3-4 hours to fit.

Lose some low-end torque as expected. Fortunately, opening up the E68 regain that.

I think it is normal with all after-market exhaust.

Open-pod filter without an after-market exhaust is only half a mod IMO.

I can feel there is still good in you. [laugh]
