for one grand you should have many choices:

Image dynamics IDMax

JL 12W6v2 or 12W7

Diamond Audio TDX or the newer D9 series

Resonant Engineering (RE) XXX

If you really want something that hits, try the Cerwin Vega Stroker

Remember that the box design and construction is just as important as the sub itself

the REXXX already cost almost $1k..

Strokers, u'll need a huge amp, which will also cost a bomb..but haven seen any strokers in singapore at the moment..

also, those ported box for xtremem SPL are as big as a b*tch man.. chao chao need 3 cub ft

think he meant 1k for both amp and woofer, you still can get some kick, but doubt

my fault, didn't see the "+ amp" part.

For 1K, include the box construction, monoblock amp and sub, try buying the amp used, save some money

RF amp bo kao lat(unless u get the power series).. and the woofer bo hua.. the P3 wont give as much kick as the T1.. and to power the T1 not easy..T1 not cheap also..

consider the OZ, u gotta see the damm woofer to believe it..

do look ard for old sch monoblks.. these will blow up ur car man.. haha..

this amount of money. i rather choose Diamond Audio, Kicker,JL Audio or Rockford.

It will be more easy to sell if you want to upgrade next.

Diamond Audio or a/d/s,JL Audio are the best for SQ .That i heard from Japan.

And the best is your listen by ur own ear. Forums still a forum. Just a reference. The best is checking around and listen by urself.

i doubt our dear friend here is into SQ.. heh.. hip hop packs a hell of a lot of bass.. he needs a really mean SPL woofer. heheh..

but problem with these woofers is that u need another mean amp to drive them.. and amps aint that cheap.. heh

for him, best he go for the huge ported boxes..

kicker, the SPL ones are the SOLObaric series.. but i don really like kicker.. (ugly name)

as for rockford, the new punch series generally for SQL, for real SPL, he has to go for the Power series woofers (T series).. those in singapore cost a bomb.. though under 1k, if he gets that, he wont have $$ to get a good amp to power it..(unless u gettin the old school rockford punch subs)

JL audio, for the SPL ones, (i not familiar with the models), i don think its that cheap also..

so pretty tricky situation here.. heh.. cos chao chao he will have to custom his box, which will cost abt $150, get the amp, woofer and pay for installation..

he needs a woofer with really extreme excursion capabilities.. if normaly woofer, scared he will blow it.. heh.

if i not wrong, the SEA lotus is really SQ stuff.. doubt it suitable for real SPL stuff..

Let me guess - u went to Autotrend right!? [sly]

If u are into SQ sub, I believe that Oz is value for money at less than $500/xx - see the thread on the Oz group buy. Else try out my RE XXX 12" - should be installed by end next week. [thumbsup] Hopefully.

FYI, I'm going to power it with a 2,400w amp [:p]

P.S. If I am correct on the shop which quoted u - u can actually see my RE XXX 12" in the showcase (bottom shelf) beside the Lightning Audio sub [laugh]
