Me not ford owner but Haynes can be gotten at Kino in Takashimaya or Autobacs, these places have quite a good range.

If U cannot find then have to order through Haynes UK or try checking for a local agent through their website at www.haynes.co.uk

Haynes has many car manuals on new cars as well, it's just that Singapore bookshops never carry them. Check out the website www.haynes.co.uk, they have a wide selection.

I quite like the look, especially the back & it has potential for modication. The designer from VW!

Talk about the handling which even better than BMW 3 series or Merz C-class, of course length is also longer. Its only cost 105k including 5 yrs warrantly plus free 3 months installment. [;)]

If I choose the higher OMV car to buy, I will not get a nice car I like. My first car-Renault coupe 1600cc and cost me 125k four years ago and OMV only 17.5k. But the car outlook was very nice when lowered with 17" wheels.

If you are financially inclined, you will probably feel that high OMV is certainly not attractive at all to a new car buyer.

- If you are buying the car on loan which most of us do, you are also paying for the interest charge on the OMV that you have conveniently omitted in the computation of the depn rate.

- Time value of money. Say you buy a new car of OMV $30000. Solid OMV, yes, but that $30,000 is what you get only 10 years later. But the catch is that YOU pay that $30,000 now and get it back 10 years later and worst still ....... its w/o any interest accrued to you and you need to pay interest charge for it as a portion of your total car loan.

In short, its a bit like depositing money in a bank and pay interest charge for keeping it there for 10 years, no longer, no later.

Just to note, U only get back 80% of that 30k, worst! [mad]

To add insult to injury, if the price you paid less COE component, is more

than $55K, you will have a penalty for early redemption. This is independent of the loan amount!

How does this affect you? Say, the car is 120K, COE is 30K, so the price is 90K. Assume you take a loan of 40K over 7 years. After 2 years, you see the car of your dreams (current car became car of your nightmare :-) ) and you sell your car. You pay penalty on the unpaid interest, its like you have to pay to get your money back but only if you have lots of money.

Why? All bank/finance house/dealers say dunno why, but that's the way it is. All claim it's an MAS ruling on the practice and 55K threshold.

Anyone can shed light on this?

Bottom line, go for car less than 55K if you ever have any doubt you'll keep it until the full term of the hp agreement.

Agree with u abt the OMV but the issue here is the Mondeo has low OMV but selling at high price... if OMV low and selling price low, then its attractive. If selling price high, then u defintely want high OMV so as not to loss so much $$$.
