Sphink Neutral Newbie November 7, 2006 Share November 7, 2006 Hi, Am at a lost. Did a search on the history posting but just bits and pieces. Still don't get it. Anybody can assist me on how to set my crossover setting for my Alpine 9815? I'm on passive set-up. Ice set up as follows: HU : Alpine 9815 / 60W x 4 AMP: Genesis Profile 2 / 75W x 2 SPK : Infinity 6000CS (Component Spk) / Impedance 4OHMS / Frequency response 53Hz-21kHz / Sensitivity (2.83V, 1m)= 92db / Crossover Freq = 3.5kHz Appreciate any feedback. Totally confused!! Cheers... ↡ Advertisement

Bluemice 2nd Gear November 9, 2006 Share November 9, 2006 mind if i ask , why do you need a Xover setting, if u r running subless and passive. subless - there is no need to divide the LFE and the mids Passive - the mids + highs divide are already being done by the Physical Xover. Or r u referring to the gain setting on the physical Xover ? mice
Sphink Neutral Newbie November 9, 2006 Author Share November 9, 2006 Bro, thanks for reverting. I'm a novice at it. I'm refering to the HU crossover setting. If I don't need to meddle with it, what's should be the default setting since as you mention it's already control by the physical xover of the component spk.? How about the amp? Currently for the amp, I've set it to 80hz (think it's the hp)and the other at level 1.5 (not sure what it is, but when I set it higher, the sound gets louder. Could it be the gain?) Sorry if I've been asking stupid question. Learning about ice now. Good sound does play a part in having a more pleasant driving experience. cheers bro.... Bluemice 2nd Gear November 9, 2006 Share November 9, 2006 bro, i maybe wrong too, lets hear from others... as i m also on the uphill path of ICE mountain. the Xover settings on your amp, can also be used to control the Xover. Actually, it can be set to a high pass to prevent too low freq from reaching your components, but in doing so, your LFE would be chopped off, thus sounding abit bassless. wat abt going back to your installer to get it tuned up for you ? mice
Sphink Neutral Newbie November 9, 2006 Author Share November 9, 2006 I DIY myself. Basically plug and play as I just upgrade my HU and amp. Bought used set as it's much cheaper. cheers...
