Does anyone read much into the speed rating ... ie that alphabet.....H, Z or whatever? It gives the top speed of the tyre isn't it? So if u cheong the NS frequently like Guyver does, then the alphabet is impt? But no one seems to be bothered by this?

Speed rating is very important. IMO never go below what your car is capable of. Famous last words........"I think I'll save money on a H-rated tyre as I never go above 200 anyway."

Me - V-rated and above only. [:)]

Mine's H too....maybe, should downgrade if tyre shops sell smaller alphabet tyres...probably much cheaper since we don't 'fly' with our cars in singapore.. [:)]

Z rating safest, for speeds >240km/h so "technically" limitless! [;)]

But why is Z rating the safest? what's the difference? how much more in terms of $$?

Z rated tires can go up to the fastest production road car's top speed so safest in term of high speed ability. Price may be slightly higher but most high performance tires only come in Z rating.
