How to determine if an amp is dead?

I connect the wiring, correct and the 2 protection fuse is ok, never blow.

But when on, totally no reaction from the amp. No LED light and no sound. Unless my power cable brakes in between, which is unlikely.

 

I would like to ask, what is negative ground?

I connected my battery's -ve termainal to the car body and all the ice's GND cable I just connect to any chasis screw I can find under the carpet. Is that considered a negative ground?

 

Whats the difference between a negative ground and a zero ground?

Did you connect the power from the +ve of your battery to the 12v input and the remote antenna to the REM input of the amp?

remote antenna? Better connect from "Rem Out" from the HU. If not, sometimes u only hear sound when Radio is chosen as the source...

I connect the battery +ve to a power distributor (1 input 4WG to 2 output 4WG with 2 fuse). One of the power output go to my 4 channel amp. One of it go to my Stinger 1 Farad capacitor +ve terminal. Then I connect another power cable 4WG from Stinger +ve to my monoblock amp +ve. 4 channel amp GND, monoblock amp GND and capacitor GND I all connect to the chasis screw. I connect the Remote On cable from my HU to both my amps's Remote On. Anything wrong?

Use a volt meter to measure if there is power at the amp's power terminal (+ & Gn, rem & Gn).

If both terminals have power & your amp did not power up then it's time for new amp liao. [sweatdrop]

Its the monoblock not powering up.

 

Sianz... guess I have to buy a new monoblock.

Remove the cap and connect the power wire directly to the monoblock also cannot power up? If the cap can power up, then most likely it's monoblock problem.

just pluck out ur monoblk and link it to the battery directly and see whether it ons or not(bring to the engine area and just hook it up).

 

best way to see whether amp got dai ji or wiring problem.

Or it could just be the ground to the monblock not done properly or grounded to a place that isn't a good location for grounding.

 

I know that happened to me when i first installed my amps, no light nothing and it was fllickering...then i realised the grounding point i used wasn't good enough.

 

But like Headshok said, just connect the + and - from the amp directly to the batt and see got light or not..

The remote wire is +5v when on or +12v when on?

If I connect to battery directly for testing, do I connect the remote on to +ve of battery as well?

Remote is also 12v. When you connect direct to battery, just connect the REM to the +ve also, or use a jumper cable to connect up the REM and + on the amp.
