hahaha.. IMO.. probably due to the fact that the parts are cheaper (maybe turbo?) hence have to increse engine capacity to match the evo's performance... or match japan's performance cars "gentlemen's" rating of 280bhp... while maintaing a low emission and lower compression ratio?? ....

 

thou JDM's spec C (frm PI) is still 2L n produce 280 bhp....

it is a known fact that the 2.0 litre engine were stronger than the 2.5 litre. crucial if u are upping the power big time. In fact, 2.0 litres stroked up to 2.2 litres were known to made the most power.
