Hi Lester, welcome to MyCarForum! [cool]

So is the H-matic still an auto tranny (i.e. torque convertor) or auto-manual with a hydraulic actuated clutch?

Thanks! [;)]

Hi turbobrick

In my case, my Santa Fe is running on an interference engine and should be utilising a torque convertor and the manual shift is not really manual. Wat I mean is if you rev above say.. 6000rpm, and you're at 3rd gear in manual mode, it automatically upshifts to 4th. Same case, in manual, when you are slowing down, it still downshifts automatically. Basically, H-matic is useful in attaining fast pick-ups over short distances. But for a 2.7L engine, I wouldn't use the manual mode every other day. It swallows petrol man! But on a/t, it avgs bout 9.2km/L. which for a 1.8T vehicle is excellent. Thanks for the info Lester, your SF is damn cool! Love the red mudflaps [cool]

U're a 4x4 offroad buff eh? Must be fun to tackle the beaten track [;)]

Ok, so the H-matic is essentially similar to a tiptronic semi-auto configuration, still torque convertor but with manual "override" shifting function.

Which 1.8T you're driving as well?
