Alpha78 6th Gear October 3, 2007 Share October 3, 2007 Check out Hvper at east coast park, beside the 7-11. They offer quite good discounts, even to walk-in customers. The price tag on the blades on display can be further discounted, and for beginners you can get a full set of protective gear and ABEC-5 78-80mm wheel blades with metal frame, for less than $250. I bought my kit from them for less than $200, but that was more than 4 years ago. ↡ Advertisement

Silhoutte Clutched October 6, 2007 Share October 6, 2007 Bladerunners are good enough for recreational skating. I think your choice isn't really a bad choice, since we are not entering competitions.
Silhoutte Clutched October 6, 2007 Share October 6, 2007 I have fat feet and tightening the damn shoelaces are hell of a chore. That is why I loved my old blade's triple clip system. The technology of the clips in the Bravoblade GLX are rather different from the clips used in cheapo skate btw.
Silhoutte Clutched October 6, 2007 Share October 6, 2007 Well, I'm sold to those clips on the Bravoblade GLX. Its a pity they do not make version 2 or something. These clips are different, you adjust the strap length and snap them on instead of pushing those straps into the catches like cheapo blades. The technology allows the skate to have a 'memory' of how tightly you buckle up your skate, ensuring that you can always buckle your skates to the same tightness every time you wear them. Trust me its an amazing piece of technology.
Rb26dett Clutched October 6, 2007 Share October 6, 2007 (edited) the last pair i had is a remz.quite comfy but depends on wat type of skates you looking for. brands i am aware of are roces , usd skates , remz , xsjado .the rollerblade ones not really comfy.if your not used to anti rocker or freestyle 2 wheel types then go for the flats.which means each skate have 4 wheels and all 4 wheels touch the ground. can try this skate shop at margaret drive called GO SPORTS.really old time experienced skate shop.uncle eddie quotes very good prices. mine looks something like this but in black http://www.skates.com/Remz_ufs_skate_p/10-rle.htm Edited October 6, 2007 by Rb26dett
Alpha78 6th Gear October 6, 2007 Share October 6, 2007 Woah, not the run-of-the-mill type of clips. Too high class, probably way out of my budget. I'm currently using K2 which uses those pull laces and quick release catch, so no need to tie laces, but somehow they don't feel as secure as my old Rollerblade lace and clip system. Silhoutte Clutched October 8, 2007 Share October 8, 2007 It wasn't really expensive nor high class... My previous pair cost me $350 and lasted 7yrs. I was just wondering why they have never reproduced this system.

Niteblu Neutral Newbie October 8, 2007 Share October 8, 2007 (edited) That's the same guy RB26DETT (GTR? ) is referring to. The long haired uncle. Eddie Go, one of the pioneers on the SG skate/skateboard scene. Also the guy who built Bishan skate park when it first started. A staunch supporter of the local scene. Bought my Old Roces Majestic 13s there. Loved em. Last pair in the shop for S$200. But pity my feet outgrew it too fast.
