Got these from the net..please feel free to contribute

4 people must cross a footbridge at night.

Many planks are missing & the bridge can only hold 2 people at a time (more than two and the bridge will collapse).

The travellers must use a torchlight to guide their steps, otherwise they are sure to step onto the missing steps and fall to their death.

There is only one torchlight.

The 4 people each travel at different speeds.

Adam can cross the bridge in 1 minute; Larry in 2 minutes; Edge takes 5 minutes; and the slowest person Bono, needs 10 minutes.

The bridge is going to collapse in exactly 17 minutes.

How can all 4 people cross the bridge?

During certain local floods five married couples found themselves surrounded by water.

They had to escape from their unpleasant position in a boat that would only hold three persons at a time.

Every husband was so jealous that he would not allow his wife to be in the boat or on either bank with another man (or with other men) unless he was himself present.

Show the quickest way of getting these five men and their wives across into safety.

Call the men A, B, C, D, E, and their respective wives a, b, c, d, e. To go over and return counts as two crossings.

No tricks such as ropes, swimming, currents, etc., are permitted.

You are given 8 bricks. 7 of which are of equal weight, the other one is heavier than the rest.

Using only a balancing scale (not weighing machine), you need to identify the odd one out within 2 tries. How can you do it?

for the brick question..

separate out any 2.

split the 6 into 2 group aka 3 brick in group A and 3 brick in group B

put the Group A and B on the each side and see if it balance.

if it does. then balance the last 2. *SOLVE.

if it doesnt. take the which ever heavier side. and take any 2 of the 3 and balance it.

if it balance again. the odd pieces is the heavy one. * Solve
