I use to travel for work quite a bit so I board my dog very often...... In fact I just collected my dog fm boarding yesterday...... [:p]

I have tried both "Pet Hotels" and Private Boarding and the verdict is both me and my dog prefer private boarding over these so-called "Pet Hotels" for the following reasons:

1. Flexibility

Private boarders are a lot more flexible in terms of the drop-off and pick-up timing. Some times if schedule don't permit, you can negotiate for the private boarder to take-in your dog a day earlier w/o extra charge. Also "pet hotels" operate in fixed hours and if your flight is delayed and will be slightly past their closing time, they will not wait for you and ask you to pick up the next day instead...... and you have to pay for that extra night. My private boarder will just wait for me for that couple of hours as long as there's someone around.

2. Cost

"Pet hotels" usually levy some admin charge..... de-worming charge etc.... on top of the daily rate. Some more the size of the area that you want your dog to be kept in matters in terms of pricing. And sometimes u need to pay extra if you requests for additional walks or special requests like giving your dogs pills etc..... Private boarders usually just charge a daily rate and no extra charge for special requests (at least not for me). Although I bring my own food for my dog, sometimes they will just give my dog their own food if mine runs out at no extra charge. And they always w/o fail will help me bathe my dog before I pick them up..... again w/o cost.

3. Personal touch

"Pet Hotels" are run by staff hired by the management and although the front desk cust svc staff and be friendly as hell, you have no idea who will be handling your dog. And trust me, not all dog handlers love dogs and more often than not, they just treat this as "their job" and there is no personal touch whatsoever. Private boarders on the other hands are people that love dogs so much that they can't get enough of them. Very often they have their own dogs as well. So usually there will be a temperament test to see if your dog is sociable and gets along with their other dogs before accepting you. And they put up in proper homes (like what your dog gets when your dog is with you) instead of cages or kennels..... Of course there are private boarders that uses cage and kennel and I will avoid those. Plus becoz it's their own homes, there will always be someone around instead of the "Pet Hotel" where they get locked up for the night.

As I said, I use both services before and my dog comes back a lot more balanced when I leave him with a private boarder instead of the so-call "Pet Hotels"..... That's why I no longer use Pet Hotels.....

PM me if u need the contact of my private boarder.
