Mini-itx Clutched September 29, 2010 Share September 29, 2010 Yes, you can remap your ECU. Try shops like BVO and J4C.
Mightymito 1st Gear September 29, 2010 Share September 29, 2010 You can do better than 50 bhp if your car is a turbo
Minikong 1st Gear September 29, 2010 Author Share September 29, 2010 You can do better than 50 bhp if your car is a turbo ya mine is twin scroll turbo, but i dont intend to make it so high. your ride will be crappy
Mini-itx Clutched September 29, 2010 Share September 29, 2010 You can do better than 50 bhp if your car is a turbo Actually, I still prefer the older MCS using the roots supercharger. The power delivery is linear and its 100% lag free. Power right at idle speed. Just change the pulley to get more boost and more power. For Turbo, no matter what you use (twin scroll, tiny Turbos etc), there is still a slight lag (probably need around 1500-1700 to get usuable boost. Full boost won't kick in till at least 2K-2.5K RPM. I think its possible for MCS but the Turbo is going to get hot and you may need bigger intercooler and lower A/F ratio to prevent pinging. Just dial up the boost to get more power.... ITs that easy....lol....Of course, there is a litmit.
Shemmy Clutched September 29, 2010 Share September 29, 2010 Mine (SC) is the only one i think on DMS.. Not bad.. Talk to espace.. Frankly, i think that they are the best at everything when it comes to minis. Even my alignment is done by them. The only area that is not done by them is my paint work. My brakes are AP. IC is from M7. Dfic, i think. I never dyno my car. Initially, my stock JCW was good enough but backside itchy, so started modding. After a certain extend of mods, the power delivery wasn't smooth. So did the DMS tune. Everything nice and smooth after that. Went for a B road drive after that, and a certain 'cayman S' was very impressed with the car. So i think DMS works. Haha What peter say is right. If it's a daily car, don't mod too much. Try not to pass the 250 hp mark for minis. Wear and tear higher plus after 250 hp, the mods become expensive but speaking from a SC point of view. Shemmy Clutched September 29, 2010 Share September 29, 2010 My Exhaust is JCW. but got a bit of Milltek bit and pieces up front.. The milltek pieces is the one that gives the oomph. But that is not for forum talk if you know what i mean.. My old altis is on SS.. I rather you consider milltek but don't know whether approve or not. Shemmy Clutched September 29, 2010 Share September 29, 2010 For the older type, the holy grail is the cylinder head. But a proper job need 10 grand at least... I lack that final step.. But if i do that, i can't sell the car already. BMS cost less than 2 k if im not wrong..
Shemmy Clutched September 29, 2010 Share September 29, 2010 For AP, can consider buying from ST powered.
Mini-itx Clutched September 30, 2010 Share September 30, 2010 (edited) Hmm.... How about dumping the MCS engine and throw in a 2L TC engine? Afterall, the MCS is still a 1.6L SOHC, cannot be compared to DOHC when it comes to pure HP. Btw, talking about engines, I did see a lotus with a BMW M42 engine inside (I bet it has been rebuilt and stroke up to a 2L). The entire body is CF (photos of of course, not real life). OMG, its a really head turner.... If I have a MCS, I will immediately rip out the engine and throw in a S14 engine...... If not M42 engine.... I mixed up gen1 and gen2 engines. Only the gen1 'Tritec' engines are SOHC. The new 'Prince' engines used in gen2 are DOHCs. ↡ Advertisement
