".....Believe it or not - Mr Bean (Ron Atkinson) drives one. And he smashed up the car too. ......"

how come with the advanced driving course and Mika as the instructor, our Mr Bean still crashed his? Was he driving it the way he drove his Mini: driving with a broom stick while brushing his teeth [laugh][laugh]

Yes, i also remember reading about his motoring writings somewhere, just haven't got the chance to actually read his articles yet.......... where to find them huh? should be fun reading them [;)]

He's been an on-and-off contributor to CAR, I remember one of his articles had him agonizing over the choice of colour for his Ferrari 456 (They send actual painted metal plates as well as leather pieces so you can mix and match to your heart's content... [dizzy])

Let me try to dig up some of them...

hey Sean, forgot to tell you: lately i have been exchanging CMR2 times with a few guys in Finland and Holland as a kind of private competition [thumbsup] ...... they are my pc racing kakis [thumbsup]

the rule is very simple: everyone will run each stage in each country seperately (not lan or online) but only ONCE and the time will be emailed to each other (usually after completing at least 5 or 6 stages one signle night) and cosolidated in a excel spread sheets for all to see who's fast and who's slow. No one is allowed to practise on any stage. If you make a big mistake like head-on with a lamp post or tree: too bad, no re-run [:/] , the time you clock will be posted. Everyone has to be honest.......... the competition is really intense [thumbsup]

when you have spare time and want to have a bit of fun and challenges this way, we can start it ..... just let me know when you are ready.

cheers

Thanks for the Codemaster website, let me check where i will be placed tonight...... should be way way down the list [:/] ...... may be lower than 500th [:/]

The fun/realistic part of the 'private' series i mentioned is that we have only ONE chance for each stage, very pressurising man [sweatdrop][sweatdrop]

I will try post you the times of this private group and see if they are up to your standard or not [;)]

Cheers

Looking at the Codemaster Hall of Fame, the top drivers are driving Peugeot 206! I have so far driven only the WRX (my favourite car mah). Have you tried the 206 to get better time?

cheers

Up to my standard? Please lah, I'm nowhere compared to these nuts in the Hall of Fame. Don't tell me they're driving in manual (shock! horror! [shocked] )? But if anything, it confirmed my suspicions about the seriously quick but on-the-edge 205 GTI (btw, it's not the 206. None of the modern WRC cars can match the brutal force of the 205 and Integrale) The 206 is an ok handler, but a little safe, I'm still with the Focus for the total package: decently powerful engine, quick yet controllable reflexes. Maybe move on to the Cordoba when I get more consistent...

ok, so it looks like my choice of WRX is not so good [:/] , my finland friend drives the Focus and he's the fastest among us! i will drive the Focus tonight and see whether i can improve my times [;)]

So far we have done Finland, Greece, France, and Sweden is in progress. I will get you the time sheet for the first 3 countries.

Sweden is tough for me: snow driving, the car gets bogged down quite bad once i go wide and slide into the soft snow on the sides of the track [:/]

The WRX is actually one of the most fun cars in CMR2, it loves to be chucked about. Trouble is, that also means it isn't very precise, so exact positioning is not one of it's fortes.

Wrt Sweden, try not to brake, just coast into a corner. If you have to hit the anchors, do it in a straight line. Oh, and I like to set up the car as a front-driver in the snow - understeering really helps when powering out of bends... [thumbsup]

Neutral Newbie

You know, fellas, if I didn't know better, I'd think you guys were actual rally drivers who spend their weekends in the Alps and everywhere else looking for that perfect route.... [shakehead]
