Firstly HI GuyZ ! [wave] I have found this forum quite informative for a car owner, and myself had just received my new ride and so would like to ask for a few tips on how to wash my new car. When washing a car before hand,i should hose it right? What kind of shampoo should i use? Is AutoGylm Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner good..?Is there any side effects? any Bros here tried it?...and what's a terry cloth?... should i apply the car shampoo to the terry cloth n then wipe all over the car, followed by a hosing down of the shampoo, then drying the car using chamois cloth? Sorry to ask soooo many questions as i m a newbie when it comes to washing of cars... [:p]

if you can afford to hose, hosing down the whole car is the best 1st step. otherwise just pour lots of water all over the car.

then mix shampoo with a pail of water. normally the shampoo bottle will state how much shampoo to use.

soak foam sponge in shampoo and use it to wash car. pls be gentle and use straight strokes to minimize swirl marks.

rinse off shampoo as soon as possible. again, best if you can hose it. otherwise, use keep pouring water.

dry with microfibre (MF) cloth.

terry cloth is the 1 used to polish army boots. either terry cloth or chamois will do, but best use MF cloth.

Autoglym bodywork shampoo conditioner is ok. i m using it and so far so good.

but the super resin polish and extra gloss sealant are quite difficult to use - better to stay away from them. check out other threads and see what products bros/sis-es here are using wink.gif

happy detailing!

you can use that too :) so long it can hold water well... you need the cloth to hold water so that you can wash the car rite? wink.gif

terry cloth... how to describe? long time ago, if you buy specs/glass, the shop will give you a piece of cloth inside the specs casing rite? that's terry cloth (these days they give MF cloth)

if you go beach road, the place where army boyz buy their army stuff, you will see orange/blue cloth for polishing. that's terry cloth.

petrol stations also have lah. i think 3 pieces $2 or something like that.

still dont know what is it? err... i have no picture to show though sweatdrop.gif
