Heh, all I can say is his designs are ...well...different lah. [shakehead] Weird angles, strange proportions, funny surfaces, 'unique' detailings [crazy] . Did you notice recently, the premium German marques have goen into a strange design void : BMW, Audi, Merc.... [dead]

but i thought chris bangle was asked to leave BMW already? no? that's why the new 3 is less tainted by his design cues right?

She's just reading off the script. You don't expect her to ask him, "Just what the f$%# were you thinking with the design language", do you? [laugh]

Aiyoh, have you seen the facelifted A4? From one of the nicest sculptures to a guppy [shakehead] Hmmm... the latest Audi's love for the chromed-rimmed gaping guppy radiator is ...well... misguided imho.

As for the new 3, BMW can't take risk with her bread-n-butter car since it accounts for like half(?) of the group's sales.

no one answered me yet... is he still at BMW? thought he left?

Yes, Bangle's still at BMW. But he had been "promoted," another term for a redesignation.

BMW's not gonna exorcise this bum anytime soon, since that'll be a blatant admission to design bungles that will devalue their current crop of cars. Thank goodness those in charge had the cow sense to play it safe with the design of the new 3-Series. Flame surfacing, which looks like a panel-beating job gone wrong, may not sit well with many buyers.

read in yesterday's papers...

Apparently he's here in Sg to help Sillypore to develop into a design centre.. another hub rolleyes.gifrolleyes.gif... the mother of all hubs... why are we so obsessed with hubbing?

my god, how clueless can those people get when they got him?? must be the same top brass who rushed into buying the new 5 and 7 series when it was launched rolleyes.gif

might as well hire ex-Enron top brass if they are not in jail or still alive to turn us into a financial/petro-chem hub..

not really. the 6 series turned out well too. but i tink his influence was less there cos it looks wayyyy better than the 5 series.

the worst is definitely the 5 series. totally destroyed imo unsure.gif

In retrospect, the 5 is better looking than the 7. The 7 series is too overdesigned. Its huge, long and look like a ship.. while at the same time, not looking like those classy limo its merc competitor is doing java script: x()

the 7 series was never a handsome car in the first place. its predecessor just looked clumsy n v dated. the 5 series predecessor was another story nod.gif
